Played my 1st round at Gillingham Golf Club today and had a great time.

Paired up with a fellow newish member for the round and had a good game of golf with good company.

All in all I was pleased with my score, my target was to get in under 100 which would be fantastic for someone of my level on a new course. I ended up shooting 93 so was absolutely delighted.

I have however, developed a slice since my amount of practice has decreased so need to rectify it.

Excellent news. Do you use any software to analyse your rounds? It might highlight areas where there are specific weaknesses (bogey holes) tricky greens where you keep 3 putting.

Just wondered as it may help you adjust and focus on specific areas where perhaps you can change strategy or practice (maybe when you play a few holes with the new pro)

Well done mate.

You wanna get that one marked off and turned in sharpish.

93 on a first round- you've been tugging our chains all this time right? :D

Kept it as a h/cap card yes. Just need to put in another 2 and then will be able to get my handicap.

Was a good score for sure, I drove the ball pretty long which really helps.

Just need to cure this bloody slice, will have a lesson for that. Wasn't a major concern though as I can play around it.

I played saturday and developed a slice, think i tried to hit the ball harder and lost some timing maybe as i got round.

couldnt hit a green after that.

Pah!! Easy course :p

Well done!! Good first score for the handicap.

Try not to get too carried away with it and look to beat 93 every time you are on the course. Think you are level headed enough to know that anyway

Good on yer mate. Sounds like the course came up to your expectations. I agree with Homer about keeping stats (ok I know it's anorakish) but it definitely helps your game.

Look forward to hearing regular progress reports.

93 first time out.....good score! Once you know your way round perfectly, you'll be under 90 every time!
Any holes you've yet to figure out....I'm still totally undecided about how to play 3 or 4 at my club, that's after 20? rounds.
