Afternoon Ladies and Gents,

This is my first time posting in the forum, having been been reading for a couple of weeks, it seems like somewhere I could hang out from time to time!

I'm really new to the game and have just bought my first set of clubs this morning. Nothing fancy, just a bog standard package set to see how I get on with the game without wasting a ton of money if I end up not liking it.

Been to the range and hit some balls this morning, and hopefully be heading out with some colleagues onto the course very soon... I have a feeling it could get quite addictive!

I live in Bolton, Greater Manchester and will look forward to hopefully getting to know and meeting some of you!

Peace Out

ThinAir.

'Ow do,

Born and bread in Great Lever so a proper Boltonian ;). Welcome along, there's plenty of common northerners on here local to you so stick around and get involved in a meet.

Which is your local range and what course are you planning on playing?

Thanks for all you welcome posts guys!

Here's a response to some of them...

I'm not a born and bred Boltonian so don't have to worry about getting to the Macron on a Saturday... I'm more of an Emirates/Gooner (not a born and bred North Londoner either) kind of guy, something I am sure I will take plenty of flack for in due course!!!

The two ranges I'll be using for the time being are the one at Kearsley and Chilli Dip over at Blackrod. I'll be using the one at the Trafford come July time when I have moved to my new posting at work as its only round the corner and will help me to beat some of the rush hour traffic on the M60.

As for which course I will be playing, I really have no idea at the moment. I'm sure there will be plenty of help and advice available here and from my golfing friends when I am ready to take that step. There's a lot of places local to me and plenty near to where I work as well so I should
have plenty to choose from :)

Like most in the Emirates :smirk:

Welcome on board, living amongst the web fingered mob up there and being a gooner you'll fit right in here amongst all the other hybrids :smirk:

Welcome

If your going to use the trafford center book a lesson with Rick Shiels or Peter Finch both top PGA Pros. Also have a look at Ricks Youtube channel plenty of good instruction and reviews on there.

Thanks for the tip, I'll bear this in mind when I head over there :)

Any pointers in what else to buy?!

So so far I have... A set of clubs, a bag to put them in, some tees, some balls (some new ones and box of lake balls to lose!!!) a pitch mark repairer, some pencils, a glove and a spare glove... Should this see me right?!

After a bit longer on the forum you will realise this list will never end :) Welcome.

A PJ reference?! Not sure I know what you mean by this, so any reference to this is unintentional!!!

Ah. No worries. For a moment there I thought you were cool.

Lol. Harsh, Thin Air is an obscure-ish Pearl Jam track, fans of whom (like myself) are diligently obsessive and see references to them everywhere. Its not a cult. Definately not a cult...

All hail Eddie.
