First medal today!!

Ok it was my first comp today(our clubs medal)after a couple of weeks good practise i finally got to step up to those scary white tees. luckly the tee shot went off well. I must admit the first nine i was a bag of nerves and came away with a miserable 51.

Then i started to settle down abit and managed to string a few pars and bogys together. I scored 46 which is about normal for me.

So i ended up shooting 97 which is not great but im just glad to get that first one out of the way. I must say i thoughly enjoyed the full experience and the weather couldnt of been better.cant wait for the next one!

Do any of you veterans stills get nervous in the comps?

I do get nervous especially when I know I'm not swinging well like now. I think its good to have a few nerves and the good news is it will get easier now you've done it.

Well done, I still get a little tense on the first, that's natural. Helps immensely if you can manage to stretch and hit even 20 practice balls on the practice ground before you tee off just to loosen up.
My only swing thought on the first is SLOW cos you know you'll likely be too quick in tempo. At least if you think 'slow' you'll probably still be about normal speed given the nerves.
A good tee shot on 1 can instill tremendous confidence so some preparation is a good idea.

97 ain't all that bad for a 21 h'cap in your 1st medal. A few nerves aren't a bad thing. I still get nervous but over time you'll get used to them.

I shot 105 this morning and was a bag of nerves for the 1st 5 holes including a 12 on the 3rd hole It was my 1st too so would have been delighted with a 97, well done mate.

Par 5 but took 5 out the bunker with the eventual hit going about 3 yards.

Had my first medal y/day and shot 92 which is 21 over par and I play off 9.hit 6 fairways 5 greens and never lost a golf ball. Chipping and putting was crap, course management was terrible too. Let's put it down to first game of the season! Was nervous on first tee as i'm struggling to maintain posture and hitting everything right.ob's and other crap down the right side of my first fairway lol, hit one down the left which helped a bit but had the same feeling over my next shot haha!
