Had my first medal last sunday and should of had my first handicap cut of the year but had 2 disaster holes on the back 9 - as you can see from the picture below

I normally do quite well on them 2 par 5's and also had a gentle back wind to make it worse.
My driving was pretty rubbish most of the round, putting myself in awkward positions.

But i can take some positives out of the round, i was in the buffer zone and shot my best medal score.

Wow - that's how to sandwich a Birdie!

You shot your best Medal Score - be content.

Just go about 8 shots better next time..

Lots of positives to take from that card mate. Don't let it get you down. Solid start to the season and you turn those 10s into double bogies and you're knocking on the door of breaking 90. Chin up

Well done mate, I am never disappointed when I get in the buffer zone in a medal. Mistakes happen whether you are me or indeed Tiger woods we all make 'em. A pull is nice but settle for playing well. Chin up, you have nothing to be disappointed about.

Had my first medal of the season on Saturday and came away bitterly disappointed after shooting 102. Had been playing steadily through the cold snap scoring in the mid 90's so was looking forward to having a crack at the medal in all but perfect conditions, alas it was not to be. Will have to wait now for the mid month stableford.

same here, had a quad on the 1st and the same on 18 and trippled 2 par 3's! the rest was pretty decent and driving better than ever.

The way I view it is greens arent the best and its very early in the season. We can only get better

I'd take buffer zone in a medal all the time. Shame about the two horrors. Was it down to poor execution or did you compound one error with poor course management? It is a learning curve and you know it is in there. Take the positives and go out next time and beat your PB

They were both down to poor execution really, the 11th i drove the ball way left onto another fairway and had a blind 2nd shot and ended up losing a ball in the rough, but i suppose it was poor course managemnet too as i should have just pitched it back onto the right fairway!
The 13th hole was again bad drive left into the rough, then the 4th shot into the raised green i thinned a little and it went off the back of the green and down against the OOB fence so wasted shots getting back onto the green.

Will they not ignore those 10s for a handicap change?

them 2 par 5's i normally get 2 shots on in stableford so for handicap purposes they only went down to 9's

Like most say, i was in the buffer in a medal comp so not too bad, would have been nice to get a cut but its coming.
Another comp on saturday which is medal format too so i will try again

That's the spirit. Have a great knock on Saturday
Thanks matey

Is that 2 worth a few quid to you? That's something to be very pleased about. Plus that's a very strong finish following the second 10!
I didnt get anything for the birdie, just satisfaction. i would of had a great back 9 if i hadnt made them silly mistakes to get the 10's. 29 strokes for the other 7 holes.
