Had our first monthly medal of 2014 today, quite a bit of frost and to say the least some iffy bounces out there with all temporary greens.

Walked in a happy with a net 61 and a PB in comps hopefully a sign of a good year to come. :whoo:

Guess can't really count it as a non qualifier due to temps but hey was good to get out and play well.

Great result and a good start to the new year, we had our 1st medal, frost didn't move all day hence a crap round and 0.1 back

Good work - regardless of it bring a qualifier or not it's always good to get confidence from a good round early season

Well done Shaun, was that Hill or Valley? I had a lovely day on Saturday playing the Valley, a bit moist in places but great fun

Hey Mark,

Was the Hill, not played the Valley in a while now must get out there some time. My mate played it over Christmas and said it was very wet.

You in the Stableford next week?

Must have been something in the air yesterday. I did similar, albeit in a swindle, also shooting a net 61. My best score ever, albeit on temp greens, which were responsible for adding at least two shots to that.

maybe its because the course is a shadow of itself in length- you using bucket holes on the temps as well?

Courses up here dont have medals until March at the earliest

buckets on two holes only, temps are just a patch of grass near the real green. I agree, the course is shorter, but the greens are much smaller, and difficult to putt, and it's a still a golf hole that requires concentration and effort. Shorter doesn't necessarily mean easier.

Very envious...we have to wait until April for first medals at our club! No handicap qualifiers until then.

It Does shorten the corse quite a bit, plus alot of the hazards around the greens are the bunkers and these are not really in play off the temps. This being said there are issues with the temps in themselves and there is no way to stop a ball on a frozen green.

I have heard there were two 61's and a 57 but i'm still well pleased with a 61 myself.

Great start to the year Shaun, I had a fitting Friday and was flushing anything I pointed my club at, over did it hitting clubs on the trackman while mine were being tweeked and couldn't hardly move come Saturday morning, mobbed it round on track for a a level hc until dropping 2 shots up 18 with a lost plugged ball in the rough, 1 shot outside of buffer and 0.1 back.

Not a start to the season I wanted,
