So my first major competitionis coming up on Friday at Princes Golf Club in Sandwich.

Never played in this leaguebefore, so not sure how it will be. Aiming for a mid-table finish, and I’d behappy with 30ish points. Will play each shot as it comes, visualise, relax, enjoy the course and not get too stressed if a shot goes wrong or – shock horror– if I miss the fairway! After all, I won’t have the house re-possessed if I comelast!

Driver will stay in the bag100% and I’ll play tactically where I can, using my handicap where it counts.

I aim to arrive in good timeto relax, warm up and practise.

Well, that’s the plan anyway!

Anyone got any pre competitionadvice?

I play alot of qualifiers/open events so to be honest playing in competitions doesn't bother me it's almost just like a regular round so just play every shot as it comes, do the best you can on that shot. If a shot goes begging, do the best you can on the next shot, you can't get it back it's gone, just focus and what you can control, you cant control the past. I play roughly 70/80 qualifiers a year to a handicap of 2, should get it down to scratch this year after a bit of a lay off until mid season last year it took me a while to get my 'game' back. Honestly though competition golf is just the same as regular golf with pressure, enjoy the pressure but play the same way you would if you were out yourself in the evening, it's the best way trust me.
