Had my first lesson today with the head pro at my local course and it was very enlightening. Basically told me my grip and swing are wrong (in a nice way) showed me how I need to grip the club and gave me tips on setting up properly and then pointed out I wasn't turning my hips into the shot early enough. I then set up and just practiced swinging through and turning my hips properly without a backswing as before I was thrusting my hips more forward than round. At the end of a 1 hour lesson he left me with a bucket of balls to practice what he had shown me and it was pretty amazing what a difference it made to accuracy! I could hit the ball pretty well before hand but it was pot luck if it went straight left or right.

I would definitely recommend a lesson for anyone just starting out.

It's amazing how a Pro can see stuff you can't feel /see for yourself isn't it?! I am a newbie too and after few lessons the Pro put me on video analysis and overlayed Tiger Wood's swing over mine. That was enlightening :)
Not that knowing what to do better means I can actually achieve it!
