Finally had my first lesson earlier today.

Generally he thought my grip & posture were was good which for a beginner on his first lesson, I seem to have good hand eye coordination so thinks I will be alright going forward. The things he picked up on were

1) Narrowed my stance slightly.
2) I stood to close to the ball at address so stood back slightly so i wasn't as hunched over the ball.
3) To steep in my take away

So with a few tweaks the results (after a few air shots to begin with lol) were amazing my club head speed went up roughly 15-20mph to around 60mph (don't know if that is any good?) and my carry dramatically improved to around 120-130 yards (using a seven iron) I felt like Rory on a couple of shots. So all in all I was mightily impressed and I really enjoyed myself. I have booked my next lesson for 4th of February so I will be able to get to the range in-between to work on the things he told me. Could certainley feel it in my upper arms after I had finished.

One last things how good are GC2 simulators first time I have been on one.

Apologies for rambling on :)

Congrats on seeing some good improvement in the first lesson. Keep working on any drills you've been given and keep working on the address position. Hopefully you'll keep moving forward. GC2 monitors are pretty good but to be honest I wouldn't get too bogged down on the technical bits and pieces (you might in time) unless your pro wants to show you something specific

It will be the best thing you ever do, trust me. Their is only so many videos on youtube you can watch, only so many magazines you can read etc. That one on one experience is truly worth it and it will it will probably turn out to be the best £100 I have spent.

I suppose it depends on how long you have been playing etc, I only started last summer so haven't really picked up any bad habits. As I said in my op he thought my fundamentals were good for someone who has only been playing for a short time.

game has gone down hill lately, the old thing of improving and getting a bit cocky and trying to swing faster/harder , so feel i need some help to point me in the right direction:thup:

Even the pros have their coaches with them or available online to look at their swings. It's most important to keep the fundamentals checked and rechecked, so stance, posture, ball position and, particularly, the grip - keep on checking those things, if necessary several times each day and never never forget them!

Keep the fundamentals right and all that comes later will be easier to do!

Good luck
