So here in hampshire the forecast is sunny, cold and DRY for tomorrow. Our course if probably one of the best in the country for drainage (sitting on some chalk hills), so I'm looking forward to getting out with our group of 8 for some golf and a beer afterwards.

First of 2014.

Thats all, just wanted to share my joy :D

Forecast is good for tomorrow here too, so I'll be getting me some of this:

before the annual 'Gentleman's' Dinner in the evening. Might not be playing Sunday

Ahh golf in sunny Hampshire, I miss South Winch.

I got my first round in last week, a scrappy 86 to begin the year.

I imagine mid 90s this weekend if I even manage to break 100 :)

Forecast is good here too, our front 9 has been open for the last two days but I am a little concerned the rain forecast overnight might close it again until later in the morning. Fingers crossed though

That looks mighty fine Ian - one of the top of my must play list next time I venture north of the border!

Double bubble for me this weekend for the first games of 2014 - Sunday being Winter Pairs quarter final - at least tomorrow will give me a first swing in preparation with the new Orka's - although it is a stableford comp and not sure that is a good idea!

3rd game this year and I have tyke and chefio coming over to play the hotchkin, forecast is nice and sunny so should be good.

Played on New years day and the third - then got nine holes last Sunday, was stuck in the office Monday to Thursday this week so was looking forward to getting out yesterday.

Schedule got ruined by having to go to photograph a footballer (January transfer window screwing up my golfing life) at lunchtime yesterday and when I got home it had started drizzling and I wasn't really in the mood for golf - forced myself out of the door to go to the range but as soon as I got in the car the rain stopped so unloaded the clubs and walked round to the course instead of driving to the range (saved £3 for bucket of balls).

There wasn't any sunshine, but also no wind and by the second tee I'd ditched the jacket and wooly hat - lovely day on the links, hit the ball solidly and the work I've done on the swing and my course management in last month is paying off - Only really hit one bad shot and I now know I can beat my handicap on an Open qualifying course without having to hope for single putts, something that's eluded me since moving to my current club six years ago.

It all feels a lot more natural than it has since I started taking lessons - Mind you I've got a lesson this week so by next weekend I'll be trying to integrate something new again.

Loving my golf just now, largely because the days I've been out this year have had some great weather for the time of year.

After a poor end to 2013 which included many poor scores of ranging between 28-33 points and going back up to 8 I played my first round of 2014 yesterday and played the best I have played in a long time. Shot 38 points and that included 4 birdies. A couple 3 putts let me down but on main greens in the winter this can be expected! Hoping this is a sign of good things to come!

First round of the year today, winter tees and greens, ground frozen solid, thick frost covering everything, didn't keep score, but the sun was out and it was just nice being out getting some exercise and practice. The thought of the full English in the club house afterwards kept me going.

Hit the practice ground today as the course only had 9 holes open and on temps courtesy of a heavy overnight frost. Worked on my pitching distance control from 40-70 yards using the linear method. Some pleasing results but a technique that needs refining a bit. Definitely the way I am going for my short game

Got the timing spot on this weekend.

Threw it down yesterday morning until 11:00am when we tee'd off.

Played ok, 35 points off 3/4 hcap (yellow tees).

Played Warrington today.

Tee'd off at 10:00 just has the frost was thawing.

Not so good today but have to say the course was in great nick considering the weather.

Yet to play a full round this year.
Back 9 is shut so I've managed 2 x 9 hole rounds and 2 x 18's going round the front 9 twice.
4 decent 9's and 2 dodgy ones but generally pleased with my play so far.
Raining again now so I doubt the back 9 will be open this week with another downpour due on Wednesday..

Getting bored with all this water now....

First round of the year for me today, Winter League 4BBB against a couple of CAT 1 players.

Temp greens, nip and tuck for most of the round and all square after 15 but then we bogeyed 16 and 17 to their pars to lose 2 & 1. :(
