Hi everybody

I am looking at booking my groups first overseas golf trip!

We are looking to go away some time towards to end of may, can anybody recommend some decent venues where we wont be paying the world for food and drink but get to play a good quality of course?? I have been looking at la manga which seems very nice but I am wanting to offer a few alternatives for debate.

Try looking at all inclusive deals at Barcello Montecastillo, just outside of Jerez de la Fontera.
Fantastic golf course, hotel is okay. It's a bit remote so there's not a lot else to do there.

Slime.

America is exceptional, or must it be Europe? if europe then La Cala is good with 3 courses and excellent accomodation. Around Marbella is also recommended.

Best provide more detail for a targeted response, i.e how many people, age range, expectations, priorities (nightlife or golf or both) etc

Belek in Turkey - multiple course around the area - all stunning quality

That narrows it down to a continent of approximately 15 million square miles...

Massive choice of destinations, so it depends on budget, course and cultural preferences and willingness to travel.

Too warm then for Dubai and possibly Florida too, but Spain and Portugal still OK. Could consider Myrtle Beach, US west coast (several different areas, San Diego my favourite), Portugal Silver Coast or Lisbon area, or for something a bit different, northern France or Netherlands. The former has a series of great pine forest courses, the latter great unspoilt links. You can drive to both of those places too.

As i see it--do you need to go outside the british isles for good golf? I can understand if there is other ingridients involved in the decision as ---suntan---swimming and so on....But if its for quality golf only---you have it "inhouse"....We have been to Medeterrian countrys for golf play--but in our opinion best golf abroad for us --is UK.. We will spend at least 5 weeks next year in UK for links golf.. Our friends is going to Belek for one week-- but we choose UK for golf

The Algarve in Porgugal if in Europe , lots of courses , Try links golf .....I have used them for over 12 yeas now , very good family business and they are English living over there , if going further then it has to be America , , Asia, Thailand or Malaysia , Good luck ...........EYG

correct, hence why in the same post asked for detail to enable a targeted response:rolleyes:

We are looking to spend about £350 per person for travel, hotel and golf plus spending money for beer buggies and budgie smugglers! the trip is normally 3 nights could possibly add another night.

What about t Ireland? Some classic links courses.

some really nice looking course around Dublin! I love links as well (mainly because my friends all struggle keeping the balls low :P)

Keep away from Dublin and its crazy drink prices and get yourself up to Portstewart / Castlerock / Portrush heck you can throw in Ballyliffen as well some of the best links courses in Ireland and at a decent price, with a nightlife for all ages.

I'm off to Belek for the last week in March, all inclusive at a great price. Just hope it lives up to all the hype.

I'm off there same week too.
Having been to the Algarve, Tenerife and Florida many times I don't think you'll get anywhere with your budget of £350.

I had four nights and four rounds in the Algarve with the missus in September for not much more than £350 a head (plus spending money) and could have hit that £350 budget for 3 nights/2 rounds

Just had a look at Your Golf Travel (other golf travel agents are available) - 3 nights and three rounds at Penina (flying on 23rd May) £189 plus Easy Jet flights around £130-£150 return from Gatwick

Getting the travel, hotel and golf for £350 isn't turning out to be the big problem. I just don't want to go somewhere we are trapped in the complex paying £6 a pint.

Have to be clear about the 'extras' your group will require. So where do (excuse the forced alliteration) sea, sun, sand, sex and swigging come in your list of off course requirements. 'Of course' some of these requirements may only be of interest to a minority 'single' interest element of your party with more stamina and freedom than others ;)
