270 yard par 4 with a dogleg right with a large pond on the apex of the bend which is a carry of 200yards. I usually lay up to the nearside of the pond with an 8 iron and then hit a 9 iron at the flag. This has resulted in the odd birdie. This afternoon my partner and I decided to go witth the big stick. I knew I had hit mine nice and straightbut the green is well out of view. What a buzz I got as I saw that my little Srixon was resting less than 2 feet from the flag. I tapped in for my first ever eagle. :D

Now for the disappointing bit, the players on the adjacent green had seen my ball land, roll towards the hole at a gentle speed, hit the flag and stay out. Almost an ace from 270 yards .
I told HID about this and all I got was "Oh, OK, sounds like you had fun" Hence, my need to share with members of the forum who will understand my elation followed by dejection.

congratulations, I was thrilled with my first ever Eagle. 270 yards is always a decent knock as well so to get it that close is great. Were you aiming for the green when you hit it or were you trying to get it 'somewhere near'?

Evita4 mate, good to hear your out hitting a ball again after your back collapsed (sic). What a shot, shame that guy had to see it ping off the flag stick though.

Had been driving pretty well all week and as the fairways were still pretty firm I was pretty sure that if I did hit one well I would make the green
