I was going through some old stuff the other night and I came accross this old printout of my first ever competition win. It was back in 1989 at a club in france. I would have been 13 at the time.

I can remember I won a beach towel with the name of the club on and playing in a 3 ball with two french fellas.

Just look on the 3rd I had a birdie 3 for 5 stab points!!! :o

Happy Days.

So tell us all about your first success!

I remember winning the odd junior event and when I was 14 or so was allowed to enter the mens events at Wimbledon Common. I can remember the first medal win and getting some great encouragement from the members for winning. Can't remember the score. I do remember winning the South London Cup in 1986 with 40 odd points and having really played well that day.

I have won a few in the last 9 years but cannot remember in what order. I wish now I had kept a record to remember in my older, older days.
My ultimate dream is to score my age as a visiting senior did at the age of about 75

Clubs yes
H/C 14 and still rising

We have a family golf competition once a year which I have never even stood a chance of winning.

I worked my nuts off for this years comp and won by a few strokes. They have decided to do another in september so I really have to work double hard now!!!!!

There was accusations of Banditism and cheating just because I practiced really hard and beat them (just).

Last year Captains day and I played like a pillock - went out in the comp next day and shot 46 points with the unchanged course.
Was well chuffed - and happy to prove to myself that I could have wone Captains day if I was not such a mental fraility.

The Sim Trophy at Kirkcaldy Golf Club 1975 and before anyone says anything, I was a junior.
Still have the little shield :)
That's what I'm talking about. The missus was asking me why I keep old medals and things and I tried to explain. Think it fell on death ears! ;)

That my friend is Sods Law.

Last year's July monthly medal. Had to live with weeks of 'bandit' insinuations as a high handicapper is not meant to be able to hold it together for medal round apparently. Manged to follow it up with 2 other medal wins last season and a few top 3 finishes.

Won the first ever medal I entered @ Yelverton GC as a 15yr old junior. Got my first ever handicap of 24 on the Saturday, then shot an 85 (9 under net!) on the Sunday, too young (or stoopid!) to understand the bandit comments at the time.
