Not one for blowing my own trumpet but on Saturday we had a Texas Scramble at my club , 3 man team and we won it by 2 shots. Not a bad way to start the season for me considering i'd done a 12h our night shift and went straight there from work was even better.

Played some really good stuff ,we qualify to play another qualifier at Pitlochry then the winners play in the Pro Am at the Challenge Tour event at Spey Valley.

Very true Bill but to be honest we didn't think we'd be in with a shout but just goes to show you. All 3 of us have been playing well over the winter so its a good start on the trail of single figures.

A good bit of fun to be had in a pre season scramble. Well played especially if you had the breeze we had on Saturday :-)

To be honest Dave the weather wasn't to bad a couple of small showers and a bit of wind to keep it interesting but in general decent scoring conditions

First comp of the year for myself yesterday. Pairs event with Hawkeye and we .............got Dq'd. No idea why although he marked the card  Think we had my handicap down incorrectly but also signed for a point more than they seem to have put us down for. Either way we were in the lower echelon of the scoring so not losing any sleep

How did the new irons go Homer better than the g25's?

Played better on Saturday in the roll up than I did in the comp where both Hawkeye and I were out of form. They were good and I am happy. Most of my issues on Saturday were still short game orientated. I didn't swing well yesterday, mainly off the tee but still some good ones in there.

I always think winning a round at another course is the best prize you can get

It was our first comp too on Sunday. I shot 86 (nett 76) but had 5 yippy putts missed from 3 foot or less, a 2 shot penalty and a 6 on a par 3 when I cowed up the tee shot into a ditch. Otherwise my driving was as good as it's ever been, the iron play was good following changes during the winter and the linear method on the pitching seems to be bedding in.

With the putting being so awful I took a lesson yesterday afternoon from our club asst pro and made some changes that I really liked and have hopes that the stroke will be wholly better. I realised though that, with the course closures and temporary greens, I actually had not putted on a main green for around 3 months!

First comp for me 0.1 back :-(.

Have a rules question. I played a poor second shot on one hole (just one of many poor shots) which came down in a cordoned off wet area with drop zone, the ball plugged and we couldn't find it. I took a penalty drop in the DZ with a new ball and finished the hole. Whilst discussing this in the club house (after putting the card in), someone suggested that because I'd come down in area which had a compulsory drop zone, there was no need to find the ball in order to take the compulsory drop for my third shot. I haven't had a chance to follow this up yet, anyone have any idea if that's true?

It was because your handicap was wrong, but I'm blaming you as you told me it was 11.5 in the H4H Challenge thread :ears:

Always nice to get a win under the belt early, and a scramble is a fun way to do it.

Competition season finally starts in earnest for me this weekend as I'm playing a stableford on Friday and a medal on Sunday. I'll take a couple of buffers to start with but we'll see.

Yes this is correct.

Yes this is correct.

It has to be known or virtually certain that the ball is in fact in the area though. If there is doubt, it isn't enough to assume you are in there.
