First 2 on a par 4

I Played at the Dumfries & Galloway Golf club today and after hitting a poorish 3 wood off the tee holed my 2nd shot on a par 4 150yds from the pin uphill and into the wind with my trusted 8 iron,

To say i was/am pleased is an understatement..

Always great when that happens. The last time I holed out for an eagle was at the Downshire near Bracknell last year on the Longest Day Challenge with Hywel. I hit a 142 yard 7 iron and it pitched on and rolled with perfect speed, hit the pin and dropped

I was lucky enough to do that twice in one round back in the 1990s. Holed an 80-yard pitch shot on the original 6th at Sunbury and then made another eagle from 130 yards on the 9th.

I didn't take that picture, but it was from close to that spot. It is at Stewart Creek Golf club near Banff, in Canada. Par-4 with the first shot along the flat on the top of the hill, then the second shot over a big drop down to the green.

And there's me thinking I was being daft because the approach really comes from the other side of the water

I remember Banff from the old Microsoft Links game on the PC, looked 'virtually' really nice.
