I think that I may just have found a 3 wood that I am happy with and do genuinely like.
I picked up a second hand Srixon M-Steel with a stiff SV-3008 shaft for £30! Yes £30 from ebay. This morning I spent a couple of very very cold hours on a blustery and occasional showery practice area I am very impressed with it. I did need 10 minutes afterwards sitting in the car heating up my frozen hands before I could drive home!
Firstly its one of the few fairways that I have found which actually sits square and not toed in like so many manufactures do these days. It launches the ball at a decent trajectory, its high, but not ballooning and it still bores into the wind. I liked the feel from the club as well and its nice to look down on at address.
Maybe its just that the shaft suits my swing but its the first time in years that I've had a fairway wood in my hands and genuinely fealt excited about hitting it. I know its early doors but I genuinely believe that this club is in the bag to stay.
Time will tell!
