Got home earlier after playing 18 today in a gale and found I have torn the skin on the side of the tip of my middle finger on my right hand. I had a couple last year and they took an age to heal, even with taping up before I played.
I usually get them when it's cold and dry but this is my first one in the summer.
Is there any way to avoid them other than taping up the finger tips that get affected before I play?

Used to get them regularly when I worked in a chilled warehouse.. found the only thing that worked to prevent them was to smother the fingertips in vaseline and wear gloves on both hands to ward against the cold.

Can't say I've ever had them in warmer weather though, but maybe try wearing two gloves?

My hands get too warm to wear two gloves in the summer. I do in the winter as I have bad circulation in my thumbs ( too many hits with hammers and breaking them) so don't have a problem then. I didn't think I would get one in this weather but I have and I have to play 72 holes on Friday so it will have to be taped up for that now as a precaution.

I had some bad blisters at the start if the proper golfing weather / season. you just have to let them heal. if you play lots of golf the skin will eventually harden and this problem will go.

I feel your pain. its a torturous time! you want to play golf but keep opening wounds! :( that's before you have hit a ball in anger!

Looked at the thread and thought, fingers don't cry!

I get that gardening sometimes and there is a product called 'new skin' [I think].
You paint it on like nail varnish, it works well.

My spelling isn't good and even worse late in the evening lol.
I've tried now skin in the winter and it was ok for a few holes but soon the split opened up again.
I think I'll tape them up for Friday doing the 72 hole challenge and hope it heals quickly as we have league matches coming up as well.
