Looks like it's gathering momentum! They seem to have done a bit of research on regional qualifying as well as giving some serious thought to the preparations required. Rick and Pete are asking for support from their followers to help make the decision, although I believe this is more to publicise their quest as it's only ever going to be unanimous that they should go for it!

Regardless, this is very exciting and should they proceed, I'd be following the journey intently!

I quite like the idea that some people have suggested...if one does make it and the other doesn't, the loser caddies. They work well together!

From the course vlogs I've watched, Rick tends to plot his way around whereas Pete whacks the driver out and attacks.

Still pipe dreams at the moment though!

If you thought you where good enough, had the resources to commit to such a project, then surely it's a nobrainer??

Those too old to get a call from Rodgers/Mourinho/Van Gaal, this is the dream isn't it?

Think they are shifting operations up to Lytham which will help hugely. Hone their skills and give it a go. they can both get it out there but I think pete has the upper hand on accuracy.

Will be fun to watch. be nice to watch them if they could get to final qualifying at hillside.

Might be fun nearer the time when they have to actually go do some course prep, but can't see where the fun is gonna be before then?

It's only a small driving range between Warton and Lytham that they are going to, not one of the Lytham courses.

Hope they do well and it sounds like they do realise how hard this is going to be (if they do it).

Would be great to follow this and even better if they got to the Open!!

Why ask for people to leave comments on YouTube saying if they should do it or not? Just do it!

It's owned by the pro at St Anne's Old Links though so sure getting time on he course won't be a problem......

Not 100% convinced myself. I'm sure they know just what standard they will have to get to, but I can't help thinking they just don't play enough competitive golf to hone their skills enough. Rick can get it out there seems to be always fighting a hook and Pete's swing seems to have got worse since he did the quest for 350 challenge. Although he still is a super player.

To me the best things they do are the course logs where they are having some fun, messing around in Turkey, The US or Dubai at night, also the recent games against meandmygolf were excellent. But I'm assuming that if they are serious about qualifying they will have to play in lots of comps, which does not make for very exciting vlogs. In fact I doubt that they will be able to film many comps and most likely not any proper Open qualifying rounds. So we won't that be a bit of a damp squib if we can't actually see how they get on anyway?

I do wish them the best of luck, but can't help thinking this is kind of being done as a way to increase YouTube subscribers (which I suppose is fair enough) as opposed to them seriously thinking they will actually qualify. But more than happy to be proved wrong as I think they are easily the best golf youtubers out there.;)

I've never heard of them, wannabe film stars ... @ less than 200 hundred quit to enter why have all the hype? Like others, fill out the entry form and get on with it.

Is it do-able for them? Realistically?
They've obviously got the ability but will be up against guys who spend all of their time practising and competing whereas Shiels and Finch have a lot of coaching commitments to keep. Tough I'd say.

That would be my thoughts. Clearly they are good golfers and I am sure they can get lots of support and help but time is the issue. Fun though.

Fun idea and looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. If either of them get anywhere near it i'd be amazed. It's one thing teaching and playing course vlogs with mates and another competing against the best tournament golfers in the country.

Would be glad if I was proven wrong though.

It will answer the question. Just how good are tour pros.

These guys can get it out there so length won't be a problem. It's everything else that goes into being a top player.

I reckon Finch has a better chance than Rick, but we shall see. I think it'd be interesting to see how close they could get. Be good to see Carter from Trafford golf have a go too, he's regarded as the best golfer on Youtube according to Rick and Pete.
