I do watch the odd 7-10 minute review of the new gear out there but I am not usually a fan of watching course vlogs. Having played Delamere Forest a few times with the NW Chompers (apart from NWJ ;) ) off here, I found myself watching all 9 holes this morning.
They knock spots off Crossfields vlogs and was genuinely great to watch.
Any body else enjoy watching these or can recommend anybody else who is good?

I can chomp it round any course Karlos ;)

I watched these last night as there was chuff all on TV actually, first vlogs I've watched for ages and enjoyed them

Course looks superb, need to get there for a game this year.

Yeah it was a good vlog, was v.surprised to see a couple of drives getting two big visible bounces...testament to the course and greenkeepers to still be that playable at the moment! Feeling for Pet at the moment...

Looks a fairly similar type to Walmersley with lots of slopes and moorland terrain, definitely eager to give it a hack now!

All aboard the birdie train

Only thing I find with the finch/shields vids is the lack of banter. With crossfield/Locky vids it's a laugh, throw buzza and Pritchard in there and it's just like our normal four ball

It's a stunning course !
No wonder it's in such great nick as it gets hardly any traffic. Membership of about 200 I believe, but I could be wrong....

I had the pleasure of being able to play Delamere Forest for about 3 years in the early 1980 s
They do have a very small membership as you say and the club was a real anachronism, being a law unto themselves in many ways. Not sure how it has changed today.
They allowed 8 members of th Fire Service, Police, Clergy and Army to play.
The cost I recall was £32 per year, not only that but I could sign in 3 guests for the princely sum of 50p, £1.00 and the third for £1.50.

I could also take my pooch along at no extra green fee.
I was not a member and could not play comps but I really enjoyed being able to, play such an excellent course.
It never closed whatever the weather, laid out over very sandy sub soil it drained very well.
The greens were were of the old fashioned type and in those days were never watered. You hardly ever would leave a pitch mark and though true could be lightening fast.
I still look back on so many hours spent around the course.

The course looked absolutely stunning, still cant believe it was January! I watched whilst soaking in the bath yesterday washing all the mud off me from playing 16 holes on our soaked course!! Wasn't envious at all.....

Horses for courses as the thing I like about Finch and Shiels and also MeandMyGolf is the lack of childish comments an attempts at humour that is often excused as 'banter'. Banter to me is often used as an excuse for all sorts of rubbish. I do 'banter' as I suppose you would call it with my mates that I have known for 40 odd years, and it is fine if you are part of that group and know how far to take it. But I know if anyone else saw us they would find it deathly boring as and to me that does not make for a great Vlog.

I possibly wrongly always get the impression with Crossfield that in some way he is a little bit happy to see his playing partners have a mare so he can win. Where as I feel you don't get that with F/S and M&MG as they do seem proper 'equal' mates who look out for each other. With Crossfield and Lockey, who is now basically now his lackey, it always has to be focused on him. IMHO of course.;),

I have played both several times and there isn't really any similarity between that apart from the fact they both have 18 holes.

Just watched a few minutes of this. Whilst the course looks decent, I think I'd rather watch paint dry than 2 average pros (albeit nice guys) chopping it round over par.

I have stopped watching Crossfield at all now, I think the last course vlog I watched was when he played at Close House with Westwood and he just came across as childish

I much prefer the Finch/Shiels videos and the one they did with Buzza/Pritchard was loads better than Crossfield/Lockey/Buzza/Pritchard

Only thing that bugs me with Finch/Shiels etc is I always feel like they are trying too hard where as Crossfield just comes out with stuff off the cuff.

But... Are they even pro's? :blah:

Well thanks for the clarification. I have only seen Delamere on a youtube video so my perception may be slightly different having never played there. It appeared sloping and built on moorland, please forgive me for thinking it resembled a sloping moorland course.

Choo Choo !!

vlogs about courses in the frozen north have no relevance to me. I do watch some of the quest for the open vids and equipment reviews.
