Finally joined a club! :)

At last, I've taken the plunge and joined a local club - Sene Valley in Kent! Thanks for everyone's suggestions a while back on what questions to ask them - all is good: roll ups, nice course, well maintained, discounted food/drink, and they even have a snooker table that members can play for free (I love snooker). So overall pretty happy.

I've not played since mid November as I've had a chest infection which then caused a tear in a muscle in my back (through coughing) so I've not been able to play until Monday just gone. I thought I'd play terribly but had my best round ever (77). Hopefully I'll get a few holes in at my new club at lunchtime!

Oh and Chris, I think I also get discounted rates at your Ashford club - so if you want a game (at Ashford or Sene) gimme a shout. Hope your hip recovery is going well!

I get reciprocal rates there. Never played it, but the father-in-law likes it there.

Well done James, Sene is a great choice. You do need the lungs of a mountain goat for the changes in altitude but I know load of guys there and play there several times a year.

I hope that we will get a few rounds in and as you (and Richardc ) says there are deals with my place, Tenterden, Bearsted, Walmer, Faversham and, I think , one or two other courses, at £15 on a weekday.

77 round Sene is pretty damn good, as you have probably found the front 9 is easier than the back 9 but the back 9 can be pretty brutal!

Enjoy your new home. Nothing like playing a course regularly and trying to work out where you can take liberties and where you need to show respect. Wish we still had a snooker room!
