Having been a lazy customer for over 20-ish years (even had a Motorola Brick at one stage!), their latest action has finally driven me over the top!

Low calls, few texts and no Internet etc on a basic phone. I've always been 'happy' to accept a slightly higher monthly charge than the 'best current deal' for the 'comfort' involved in being able to ditch the provider when I'm out-of-contract.

Several confusing/correction texts recently and a bill this month over twice the normal size was finally the last straw!

Gave them every chance to do something about the plan - and they did actually deduct some from the bill when I complained - but they were adamant that 'downgrading' to a plan exactly what my previous one provided, but £6.49 cheaper, couldn't be done without committing to a 1 year contract. Instead they gave me twice the allocation of pointless minutes at the cost for 1p more per month.

So I've changed to an even cheaper deal (£6.99) elsewhere! Same number etc. Now let's see how smooth the cutover (and last bill process) is!

I swaped to Utility Warehouse for my mobile phone.
It is something like £13.50 per month and just about covers everything I need it for. If I spend too much time on twitter, my data does exceed my limit and my bill might come in a £20. But that is still significantly better than the £35 I used to spend with o2.

Well done for changing, you have done the right thing.

Also - don't ever renew your mobile phone contract when they first call you to say your contract is running out.
Wait until it has expired, then negotiate for as much free stuff as you can get - e.g. free computer, camera, xBox or whatever you want. You are a seriously valuable customer when signed up to a 24 month contract and retainer a customer is easier than winning a new one; all the mobile companies know this, which is why they offer freebies.

Sounds like you would be better on PAYG to be honest...
That's what I am dong as off next month. Wasting £35 a month on a phone when I don't use the calls or txts. Use wifi and whats app now so its a complete waste of money.

Just make sure whomever you chose allow you to carry forward any unused balance. caught my dad our a while ago and he lost all his credit as he barely used his mobile. In fact, he only turns it on to make a call, then switches it off to save the battery!! PMSL!

Ha ha quality, Got to love parents and mobiles. My mum is 60 and always sends me a txt with mum because my mobile isn't clearly good enough to store anyone's number and know who it is calling me or texting me :mmm:

I considered that - as I have a PAYG phone available anyway. Saving is marginal, so the convenience/laziness of knowing I always have credit - and don't think about the cost of each call - outweighs any 'saving' I might make.

Three do a decent SIM only deal on a rolling contract. Switching should be easy...

Fair do's! i have heard great reviews of Giff-Gaff for cheap mobiles if you already have a handset....
