Well, after moaning about not being able to get on a course on the weekend, i joined my local course, Have finally got my cards in and am now live on HDID!

Now i just need to play to my handicap i have been given of 15! its lower than i expected initially, although i am more than capable of playing to it (sometimes) i think i might be getting a few +.1s!

We have weekly stablefords all year round (i think) and monthly medals and a few other comps in between, so plenty of opportunities to get it reduced more!!

Well done now we can monitor you via your signature ;)!! Hope you enjoy the medals and stuff and get too nervous you have 4 bad rounds before you go up and it only takes 1 shot under to get a nice cut ... So be positive and don't worry!!

You the man!! I thought I would not be able to play to mine when I got it but have actually played to it nearly every time since, all be it in bounce games.

Congrats mate, I think you can play to it.

Thanks Alex, i know i can, whether i do is another question!! LOL

Good stuff Rooter, get out and enjoy it, nothing like competing with a card in your hand.

If you already know this then no worries but something I wish I'd figured out earlier was the whole "handicap is done on stableford points" thing. There were plenty of Medal rounds I could have buffered but after an early blow up felt it was over and didn't concentrate. The times I've started 5, 8, 9 or equivalent, yikes, you feel you've "used up" all your handicap after a few holes and its hopeless. Its a terrible mind frame. Yes the Medal victory might be out of reach but buffer isn't, not by a long shot. I guess I knew this but didn't really appreciate it. You shouldn't think of having 15 shots to use up, counting backwards from your h/c is a sure fire way to mess up a good front 9.

Be mindful of the three holes you don't have shots on, mark them down and know they're coming - those you really need to focus on and try to make par for your 2 points.

I wish I'd known this when I got down to 11 and I could have spared a fair few of my previous eleven 0.1s!

Have fun chap, love competition day.

Well done. I'm in the process of submitting 3 cards having just joined my local club. I do have an inactive handicap from a couple of years ago but new rules mean submitting the cards. Looking forward to being able to play in medals once again.
