When I joined our club 6 or so years ago, the greens were be far the best for miles around. Steadily they have got worse and worse.

Last year they were awful up until June, we were told this wasbecause of a cold April which knocked everything back. Fair enough........so this year after the hottest April on record they are going tone sh!t hot right??

Wrong, after being frustrated by them all early season I thought they would be decent for a round in June surely. Uneven growth and desperately slow, bobbles all over the place. Got as angry as I've ever been on a golf course today.

Made the decision after yet another putt bobbled and hopped off line on 11 today that I will be taking membership elsewhere next year. Bollox if I'm going to deposit another £800 into theclubs coffers so they can serve up crap greens for so long.

Bloody hell mate our greens are only good 2 weeks of the year if were lucky :)
A bad putter always blames the greens :)

You do right mate, £800 is not peanuts, you deserve better for your money. If they lose enough members someone will do something about it.

Then I suggest you re-evaluate your home course as well as the best defenders in the world..... ;)

Dodger,i suggest you read the posts properly before you make judgement, the post suggested no England player would command a place in the Barcelona team,i never mentioned the best defenders in the world at all. :)

Blimey RB you've just posted a mirror image of my situation. This is incredibly spooky although they were asking for £880 in my case.

I couldnt wait another year though and jacked it in right then and there after another bobble off line on our 15th. You just cant play golf when your home course serves up trash greens for no apparent reason. Its hard to take the course costing you shots , we can all suffer bad swings and our own mistakes but big jumps out of bare patches or wooly patches is not on.

I guess the search begins for you now..

We seem to have lost a few of ours. The second in particular is really bare and patchy where it had loads of moss after the snow. Not sure if this is a result of treatment or thwy have just gone but either way its a mess. There are similar patches on three or four others too and for the cash I have to pay I'm already questioning my future at the place

We have had teh same problem with the greens. The greens were only being watered 3 minutes every night as teh water was too cold and would slow down growth. They have been waiting for rain so they could fertilise them properly. Its rained now and even in 7 days it's made a huge difference. A bit more rain over the next few days will mean a big big difference.

A few lads from JOG went up to Hollinwell the other week and their green were not very good, ours being far better according to the lads.
We have just had 7 very low single figure golfers join JOG from a well known localish club. They said their old course has been getting steaderly worse over the last 3 years and when they asked for a meeting with the manager to talk about the course they were told he didnt have the time. Nice. Their subs were around £1000 a year.

This is a poor year for most greens, unless you have been kept off them all winter or you are at a club awash with cash then you might be suffering.

Have you ever had your club approach you and say "look fellas, we are going to use winter greens to protect the main ones so we are going to reduce your membership subs through the winter to reflect that"???

Or...were you paying full subs whilst the snow was here and the club was shut...no greenkeepers, office staff or bar staff in for that period either.
