Hi there folks, hows everyones easter weekend been?

I've been busy this easter weekend getting together my final two cards together for my handicap. Overall all 3 cards were pretty shocking, which I'm pretty gutted about considering I've played at a decent level everytime it hasn't counted!

Today was my last card, I started pretty good, was hitting the ball well from the Tee, putting wasn't too shabby obviously I have the odd duffer shot but was pleased overall.

So front 9 looking a decent score, then step up to the 10th tee. Line set up, slowly draw back and get ready to fire *SNAP* my driver shreds in half on the downswing and knocks my ball 5FT from the tee!?! My brand new driver, lying in 2 pieces on the tee. Had to play the rest of the course with my 3 wood from the tee.

Well its fair to say this affected me for atleast the next 5/6 holes. My head was all over the place as was my swing. Finally got it out my head and finished pretty well (some monster drives off the tee with my 3W, through the green at the short par 4 on 16 being a highlight, still took a bogey though!)

Anyway, driver replaced and my official handicap is 23. Need to give myself a realistic target for 2012, would love to be down to 18 by end of season but think 5 shots might be asking too much?

Hope you all had a good easter and didnt eat too much chocolate ;)

gutting about your driver. 23s not a bad handicap though bud a good starting point, I know the idea is to be as low as you can but when you start out its good to still be competative and slowly your handicap will settle in to its own. Where did you get the driver from and have you took it back?

Yeah, I'm pleased with what I was given. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get a couple shots cut off it over the next few medals as I was super nervous for my cards (apart from today I was pretty chilled just the driver killed my round basically).

Got the driver from Direct Golf, took it back right after the round and they were great about replacing it, to be honest I was hoping for some compensation since my round was ruined but can't have everything haha!

Well done fella...

I completed my first card from the white tees on Saturday. Absolutely horrendous score...

Got another slot for the medal this Saturday. Not going to let the white tees beat me! Will do my 3rd card from yellows and see what handicap I get!

Good luck with it!

The whites at swanston doesn't exactly lengthen it too much, only an extra stroke and around 400yards more, most of which is added on to the short par 4 that I drove through today (white tees are shortened basically to yellow tees at the start of the week).

They are looking to extend yet again in the near future to make it to a par 70, which in my view would only make the course even better.

Give yourself time to learn how the course plays and you'll find five strokes off isn't a problem. There must be several holes at Swanston that need to have inside information to be able to play them well. Stick in and the handicap will come down easily
