Anyone been a part of witnessed a big tussle on a course. We had a bad one a few years back.A trouble maker who had no course etiquette kept on cutting. He was a single but would jump around other groups and going thru without being asked. He would than proceed to hold up the previous group dubbing the ball every direction. Was in a three group that finished a par 3.Mr etiquette ran to the next tee while we were finishing our putts.Never asked to go thru and he was walking and dubbing 30 yards in front of our tee.A member of our group learned of his antics from other peeps and hit into him.Off came the gloves and the two were swinging clubs like swords. This then involved the other member of my group.I sat on the bench just laughing and laughing from nerves I suspect.A terrible ordeal that got several groups involved before it was over

anyothers mates?

Had it happen when playing a foresomes match in a league. We were playing at their course and our opponents were not having a good day. After another shot was topped into a bunker from the middle of the fairway words were exchanged and a scuffle broke out with pushing and shoving and they eventually ended up wrestling each other to the floor.

Remarkably they finally came to their senses and completed the round. Needless to say the usual after round drinks were pretty tense so we beat a relatively hasty retreat ASAP. Yoo shocked at the time to see the funny side but years of amusement subsequently.

A few years back i was out on a sunday with my old man for a game and it was pretty slow on the course, the group behind kept firing away at us from the tee as we waited to play our second shots. We gave it the old arms in the air a couple of times and i spoke to them on the tees a few times as it was so slow we met on every tee box.

On the 12th as we stood waiting to play our second shots with half an eye on the idiots behind we saw one of them tee off but could not see the ball until all of a sudden it hit my dad in the back, i chucked the ball in a pond after making sure my dad was ok, they then came racing along trying to have a pop because i had thrown his ball away.

They had even called the pro shop who sent a guy out, when he got there the idiot who had hit the ball explained it all in perfect detail to the pro who was amazed and insisted they left the course, the one who had hit the ball then got very mouthy towards me, so he not only got to play just eleven holes he also went home with a thick ear and a nose bleed. Me and my dad still laugh about it know.

I can't imagine getting in a fight over golf. Even if someone was acting like a tosser I'd probably just call them one and let them get on with it. I'm usually too busy getting angry at myself to get angry at others!

I saw a guy in the group in front of me get headbutted at Southampton muni. Chap (thug!) from an adjacent fairway stormed over, nutted the guy then turned around and stormed back off again. Absolutely no idea what it was all about.

hmmm, you might have something here, ice hockey style. Pull your opponents Pringle over his head and get at it! The kids will love it... :D

No way an I hitting someone with one of my clubs though!!

At a previous club of mine the club champion and someone else went at it bin time outside the clubhouse after the prize giving dinner - classic 'afters' - both got thrown out of the club AFAIK .

These posts remind me of bouts of road rage.Unfortunately a lot more serious. We had a bout of young hooligans that started off shooting air horns when people drove the ball from wooden outcrops. This escalated into stealing flags/driving off road vehicles on the course after hours/even defecating in golf putting cups on green. Many a nasty tussle with them

Doesn't actually surprise me given some of the 'people' that play at the Muni...

Not surprising when you see some of the people who try (operative word) and play the Muni. Brilliant course (except the poor drainage) occupied by people trying to lamp the ball into the next county.
