Thought I'd post this afresh here as it doesn't seem to have been noticed tagged onto the end of my Old Course thread.

With my game being in the state it is I've decided that it would be sacrilege to play The Old Course (and it would mean taking the car for the whole day which wouldn't go down well with the rest of the family...) so I've been looking at other courses in the area.

There's obviously loads to choose from but it would be good to play with another forummer/forummers rather than on my lonesome so, is there anybody free next week some time for a round somewhere?

I'm good for any day Monday 10th to Friday 14th at the moment.

(I'm staying pretty much in the middle of Fife.)

You are welcome for a game at my gaff (linked in sig). Central Scotland so a bit away from you in Fife but good motorway links etc. Course closed Monday for the conclusion of Loretto Scottish under 14 Boys / Girls comp and medal wednesday so could do Tuesday / Thursday / Friday.

Thanks for the offer happyhacker, looks a great course but a little further than I was hoping to travel, and I'd really like to play a links course as I so rarely get the opportunity.

No problem mate. Did think it may be a bit far.

If plans change just let me know. Off anyway so likely be playing a few times next week. If you are through with family, plenty for them to see / do whilst you golf! :)

Played both courses at Crail on Thursday, best day of the week weather wise, even had a haar drift across the course for a few holes.

Managed to hook up with a couple of members on the Craighead course for the morning round which was lucky as my GPS didn't have either course on it.
Played okay but we weren't keeping scores so no idea what I made. (Had a shank on the second hole which set alarm bells ringing but luckily it was the only one of the day.

Played Balcomie in the afternoon but my 3.30 tee time meant there was nobody I could join up with. The wind had got up by now and I was pleased to be level par after four including a tap in birdie on the second after just missing my eagle putt, but a couple of careless holes and some very poor putting near the end saw me score 88 gross, 19 over par.

Really enjoyed both courses and recommend to anybody visiting the area.
