Up untill 2009 I was PES (or ISS) but FIFA surpassed in all areas and I made the switch.

The last FIFA, as good as it looked, licences and all, the game play frustrated me at how blag it was.

I'm currently hammering the PES 2012 demo on PS3 and I have to say, i'm impressed.

I believe FIFA are having a massive overhaul with a new physics system and so i'm keen to try it as I want to stay faitfull, but I must say, PES is looking like the winner so far.

What is everyone playing?

I was a PES player until this generation of consoles and that is when FIFA caught up and overtook. Did not play 2011 but will probably go with FIFA again this year. Shallow I know but the official licences, real player names, kits etc make a difference to me, adds to the atmosphere of the game.

GB I hear ya man, all adds to the feel. I also like how simplistic the fifa skills are compared to PES. The AI on PES 2012 appears to be alot better. Players making overlapping runs etc without prompt.

As time goes on I can see PES getting more and more licences, I just wonder how long it will be before they have them all.

Like you mate used to be PES then changed to FIFA, Have not tried the demo yet , what are the good things about it? Has it improved that much ?

Yeah lots.

Its a totally different game to 3 or 4 years ago. Passing is better, AI is better, movement is better, dribbling is better. Lots is better.

If you have PS3 the demo is online. Its not up for the 360 yet for some reason.

Cheers for that I will have to download it.

Was up your way a few weeks ago , played the Portal champ course. Was not very impressed with the course , fairways were rubbish and the greens were awful and they wanted £11.75 for a egg and bacon buttie. , glad I only paid £18 for the round. Good night out in Chester though.

You should of Played my old course, Upton by chester.

Where did you go in Chester? Lovely City.

It was left to one of my mates to book a course and he picked that one. Went all over in Chester, had a cracking night out and a decent meal as well. Would go back again as really enjoyed it . so did the other halfs.

It has changed a lot since the last time I was there. I think my last visit was 90, was based there from around 88-90.

Interesting that you like it Tony. Both my brother-in-law and I were avid PES fans till the PS3 then it has been FIFA every year. My bro said he downloaded the new PES and thought it was utter toilet. Thing is Seabass and his team have always produced an intuitive AI that provides a stiffer test. As a result I always found PES a more realistic football sim. But on my glorious HD telly the new game just looks awful and the sound is terrible.

The flip side is that FIFA increases difficulty by simply making the opposition close you down more. The AI rarely manages to carve you open by slick passing so I rarely concede many but the difficulty just makes it hard to score. Instead you have these fizzing passing moves as if you are Barcelona.

For me both games are flawed but I'll always pick FIFA on next gen consoles because at least it looks realistic, has official licenses and doesn't sound like a bunch of school kids kicking around a tin can.

Interesting Tiger,

All valid points and I take them all. FIFA has become too frustrating for me to play any more as it all seems too robotic. Runs in straight lines, running offside, not passing around players but straight at them etc.

I have no doubt, that with all the new changes I will end up buying FIFA 12, I want to stay faithful as I love the licences. But the demo will tide me over till Oct.

On a side note, PES has Champs league and its pretty good!

Fifa all day long here. I find the gameplay so much more realistic. The players moving into positions they actually would in a game. I find PES a bit straight line, everything seems to work in straight lines which I find really annoying. Never liked PES since I first tried it and even though mates played it I couldnt get on with it so I wont be buying the new one.

Ultimate team, be a pro and clubs all make the game worthwhile having as well as the licenses.

But thats my gripe with FIFA 11, they do make straight line runs. And usually they don't stop until there miles offside.

The new PES has far better AI, over lapping full backs. pass and move AI, triggered runs and a new system of player control for ingame and set pieces that is pretty good.
