Stood on the first tee today in the weekly competetion, a 514 yds par 5 SI 11 with a brand new ball. Hooked it oob never to be seen again. Reloaded and trickled a shot across the road into the car park much to the asusment of the gallery. Thrid attemp off the tee went into some hay on the left but was found and after another 2 shots I was on fairway. Made the green in 11 and then 3 putted. The rest of the round wasnt much better and I ended up with a nett 97 off a 26 handicap. Oh well theres always tomorrow

Forget one disaster and look at how consistant the rest of the round was. At least you played today. I went to the range and was shocking. Terrible. Rubbish. Sh**ks and all sorts. Felt like I'd never hit a ball before.

Do you think it was first tee nerves because it was a competition or just one of those things. If it was nerves maybe look at changing the club off the tee and getting it in play and using your shots.

In which case write it off. I've taken double digit scores and if a guy like Harrington can run up 8 and 9's then there is hope for everyone. Maybe focus on getting it in play in the next comp and go from there. You know you can play the hole ok so remember the good scores and don't focus on today

I had the same problem in my last medal 2 weeks ago, stood on the 1st tee feeling good and hit my shot right, oob! it was so windy i took my 3rd and tried too hard to get distance and only just passed the ladies tee!! started with a 10 and things diddnt get much better, having another 10 on the 9th! Anyway im in sunday medal tommorrow so fingers crossed!!

We deffo all have days like that where your mind and body forget how to play golf together. Last weekend I sliced my tee shot on the first never to be seen again and then ended up in the greenside bunker and then thinned it over the green ending with an 8, I wanted to walk off then, but stuck with it and won the comp with a net 61.

You need to externalise more. It can't be your fault that you are rubbish, it must be the click of a camera shutter 30 miles away putting you off.
