One for the gadget / range junkies.

Bridgestone Japan has released it's brand new Science Eye Portable Personal Launch Monitor! Have you ever wondered how fast you swing. Would you like to know if your swing path is inside out or outside in? How about how far you hit it? Wouldn't it be great if you could remember all your shots at the practice range? Well now you can do all these things with the Science Eye from Bridgestone. This mini sized launch monitor measures head speed/swing speed, indentifies your swing path and estimates your distance carry and run! It works with all woods, irons, wedges and even putters!

Key features:

- Club head speed/swingspeed measurement
- Distance Estimation(carry + run)
- Club head path identifier - 3 measurements: straight, inside out, outside in
- Retains data for 100 shots
- Works for lefty's!
- Personal computer software/usb connector to analyze your shots and data is available as an option

The Science Eye works by placing a magnetic sensor on the toe of your club and then swinging approximately 15cm in front of the portable monitor. Tourstage thoroughly tested the product all summer by having their touring pros use it.

The Bridgestone Science eye comes with 4 batteries, the measuring unit, 5 magnet sensors, magnet protection seal, 4 spacers and instruction manual.

The manual is in Japanese only however we have translated the basic functions - English translation of the basic functions here!

The Optional Software Pack which can chart and track all your shot data is compatible with Windows XP and Vista and comes with a USB cable for connecting your Science Eye to the USB port on your computer.

That looks perfect to take down the range - and a reasonable price too. Sure they will add to the price for us sucke...I mean UK consumers.

Blimey! Whatever next. Looks pretty good though.

Reminds me of the Clint Eastwood film, where he is a Russian test pilot - basically the aircraft reacts to his thoughts.
Just imagine that..... you're on a driveable par four and thinking, in da hole............ on second thoughts, it would take all the enjoyment away. :) :D

I'll close the door!

Golfmmad.

The market has been crying out for something like this since the introduction of the commercial launch monitors. Something like this if sold at the right price (which it seems to be), and if accurate to a reasonable degree will sell like hotcakes if released over here. I am already considering importing one as it would be superb to take down to the practice ground :D

I'm not sure if this is just a firewall issue at work but when I clicked on that site the error below popped up so maybe you shouldn't go there:

Ah Ha !! That explains a lot, yesterday I picked up something nasty on my pc. I seem to have a trojan that is trying to direct my pc to a malicious site called goscanwork. It could have come from this site then.

Despite using Spybot, adaware and Trend, I have not managed to remove it yet. Be careful.

I just tried the link from work and the page that tried to load was called "Down_for_maintenance.php", and nothing appeared. Shame, was looking at a cheap(ish) launch monitor thing on eBay the other day. You put it by the ball and it tells you swing speed and ball speed and all that. Didn't win it, but thought it would be something worth looking into.

Having something that accurately tells you your swing path and shows you how we'll you're hitting the ball would be great though. I've contemplated in the past buying such a system and putting it in my garage. Can't remember the make, but there was a machine which told you everything, and could hook into a PC and give you a virtual driving range, or even worked with a "Tiger Woods" golf game. My idea was to get a projector and have the image onto a large screen. I'd never need to leave the house again! (Was looking at something like £3000 though...don't think the other half would allow it!! ;) )
