Just an idea after reading the Cotswolds thread..
Tell us about your favourite Pubs and Restuarants, I'm always on the lookout for new places to try..

I'll kick off with this place. The Masons Arms in the South Lakes.
Cracking Rustic Pub with Great Food and Some of best Views around. Love the place and always make the effort to call in if close by.

Its about a 10 minute Drive from Newby Bridge in a quiet corner of the Lakes.

The Three Fishes between Whalley and Clitheroe is my favourite pub. Owned by Nigel Howarth under his Ribble Valley Inns banner, who also owns my favourite restaurant just down the road, Northcote manor.

We've eaten at the three fishes a few times, Very Nice. We go to their other place The Clog & Billycock occasionally too.

I haven't tried Northcote but I believe its superb, I'm not sure my wallet could take the punishment though ;)

The Wheatsheaf in Greetham. Scott is great front of house and Carol is a superb chef. Great food great beer great atmosphere.

Also love the Green Man, Ropsley just because it is my local and there are few better things than having a good local 2 minutes walk from the front door

Its been a while but I went back to this Mancunian institution a few weeks ago,
Great Jukebox and great memories but it's still a sweat box. Got to be done though if your in town..

Name that bar Wolfy?? Anyone?

We go a lot to the Clog as well as that's closest to home. Wifey works in Clitheroe so we try to do a night at Three Fishes once every few months. Took little Scarlett there after showing her off at the wife's work, youngest ever customer. Got couple of glasses of champers on the house.

Northcote is simply superb. Been there a good few times now, go for a lunch menu for the first time there, doesn't break the bank. First time I went I forgot to tell them I was allergic to mushrooms which were in pretty much everything. Nigel did a full meal for me off the cuff. Chatted to him a few times since & he's always remembered me as the bugger who's allergic to 'shrooms! (which went down well when me and wife bumped into him and he recongnised me)

How odd you should post this. A guy called john was here with his brother and wife for two days. He is 92 yr old and drove back to essex yesterday. He said that the current pub guides with food were rubbish so he is writing his own of every pub in the country. Right oh i thought. Anyway he gave me his lists ( coz he has hard drive copies ) of the pubs in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire😳
He is now halfway through norfolk coz that's were he's goin for his next break. It is excellent al post why later coz am off home.
Oh ah he is an ex teacher😁

Used to go to a fish restaurant in Finchley called the "three brothers"

did fantastic Skate and chips and a whole bunch of specials.

i miss that place

Three Fishes is nice, not been for a while. Haven't been to the other one either so will need to make an effort to get there.

Derby Arms in Treales is good for food.

Queens (food) and The Taps (ales) more locally for me are very good also.

I used to love going to a place called Parkgate on the Wirral.

It looks out over Wales on the Dee, and a great place to watch the sun go down. I used to always take girls over there on a first or early date, when I was "a player".

Loosens the old knicker elastic no end.
