What are everyone's favourite 5 new courses that they've played in 2017 ? ie courses that they've never played before this year.

In no particular order mine would probably be :

Broadstone GC
Burnham & Berrow GC (enjoyed it so much I joined)
St Georges Hill GC
Swinley Forest GC
The Berkshire (Red Course)

Honourable mentions to Foxhills (Longcross Course) and Royal West Norfolk GC which were great but didn't quite make my top 5.

I love playing new courses for the first time, so am interested to see other golfers' personal recommendations.

in no particular order;

Royal St George's
Cuddington
Swinley Forest
Hankley Common
Old Course at Walton Heath

Hankley Common...

Embarrassingly, that's the only new course I played that I'm happy to list. I only played one other new course this year, The Eden @ St Andrews. Some nice holes but some bland holes. For it to be a "favourite" it would have to be one I'd be happy to revisit.

Oh, there's also the St Olaf at Cruden Bay, where I'm a member. I've played the championship course all year but only stepped onto the St Olaf for the first time last week. Fantastic greens, and a short, gentle course for a bit of fun golf...

Wolf Creek
Sunningdale Old
Swinley Forest
Sunningdale New
Berkshire Red

In that order.

Been very lucky this year but i'm not sure i will ever play a better course than Wolf Creek. words cannot describe how good that place is

St Enodoc
Perranporth
East Devon
Burhill Old

Think they are the only new courses I have played this year, and in no order.

Only 5 New courses eh

Royal County Down
St Andrews The Old Course
Royal Portrush
Sunningdale Old
Swinley Forest

When Portstewart, Ballyliffin, The New course at St Andrews, Sunningdale New, Saunton East, West Lancs, Wallasey, Delamere, Sandiway, Manchester cant get into the top 5 its then you realise I have been very very lucky to play some awesome courses this year.

In no particular order, I didn’t play that many new courses this year

New course St Andrews
Monifeith
Hull
Champions Gate CC in Orlando
Musselburgh

Sunningdale Old
Sunningdale New
Royal West Norfolk
Hadley Wood

Every course its new to me this year but those I will play again!

The Glen, Redlibbets and Nottingham city, wish I lived closer to them haha.

Sand Moor is beyond the stand out for me, absolutely loved every minute of the round.

Cleakheaton - cracking course, played well too.
Ramside - new course meh, old course was enjoyable.
Branshaw - really nice moorland course, cheap as chips too
La Quinta - 2 best mates with me to celebrate my 40th, course was lovely even though my gofl wasn't.

Didn't think I'd played that many new course's but seems I've done ok this year.

Played quite a few newbies this year but top 5 would be

The Old Course St Andrews
Ballyliffin Glashedy
Sunningdale Old
The Castle Course St Andrews
Wallasey

Sunningdale New
Sunningdale Old
Hankley Common
Royal Porthcawl
Hollinwell

Royal County Down
Swinley Forest
Sunningdale Old
Royal Portrush
Sunningdale New

Possibly even in order and leaving out Royal St. Georges, Royal cinque ports, Royal Porthcawl and Ballyliffin shows the exalted company its difficult to pick from.

Some right goat tracks there.;)

Midlands golfer 😘

Leamington County (all near perfect greens)
Robin Hood
Mosesley
Walmley
Druids Heath

Need to get out more 🤔

Kendal - just made me laugh around a lot of the course, it was fun to play/walk on a windy day
Conwy - The wind and views are great and not to hard, nice enjoyable fun course
Sandiway - Really like this course, would like to be a member there if only it was closer to me
Sunningdale old
Beau Desert

Weirdly some of the 'better' courses I have played didn't really make the list as I looked for the courses that left me wanting to go back to the most or had the most fun on the course. So bad luck Sunningdale new, Royal St George, Hankley, Woburn Dukes, Little Aston, Delamere.

I really loved Broadstone. Was probably the course I knew least about, but it was a cracking course in top notch condition. I played as a member's guest with him and his two sons.

We'd played Remedy Oak the day before and Roger was saying that some members had left Broadstone to join Remedy Oak, but to me as an outsider that seems bizarre. There's no comparison, Broadstone is a much better course. Plus, I understand it drains well and is more playable all year round.

I hope to return next year !
