Hey folks. Recently over the last few weeks I have been experiencing fatigue on the last 4-5 holes of a round. Obviously the sun is not helping. I am trying to stay hydrated and eat some sugary food. But i am trying to cut down on sweets (on the wedding diet).

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations.

I am playing my championship qualifier on Monday and really don't want to feel tired after working durning the day and then playing the qualifier at 5:30 .

cheers

Mike

Yep, works for me. Fitness is king.

Sugar is really not good.

Pack a cheese sandwich. Much better energy releases. Sugar leads to high / low. Not good.

I am pretty fit. Play golf 2-3 times a week and go to the gym 2 times a week. Also walk everywhere when I can. I just feel I burn out at the golf

Granola bars and Nutrigrain bars have twice the carbohydrates of chocolate and half the fat.
Stay away from chocolate and sweets and try those instead.

You say you keep hydrated but how much water do you drink throughout 18 holes?

cool will give them a try.

I drink on average 4-6 500ml bottles.

Some slow release carbs are what's needed. Maybe a small chicken or turkey sandwich on wholegrain bread. It's tricky getting fruit to last the whole round, but if you've a cool pocket in your bag then a banana, apple or really any fruit you like will help.

Have something like weetabix before you go out and those belvita breakfast biscuits in your bag to munch on the way round and you should be going ok.

I've been drinking coconut water. Contains same electrolytes as a banana and very refreshing. Also try and drink as much as possible. I am going through at least a litre and a half in the heat and make sure I have sips on the tee and when I hole out. A little and often. I also make sure I eat a couple of bananas, one per nine

Thanks for that, I will try some of these on Monday night.

fitness my friend. if you cant walk round a field (heat or no heat) for 4 hours then you need to get fitter. it may sound silly but good foot wear has a massive effect on how you feel around a golf course. you got good shoe's?
