Was out for a few holes tonight and as the wife is working in Perth Today, decided to stop of at McD's.

Waited almost 20 mins for a Big Mac, as now they cook everything to order.... so its not so much fast food any longer.

won't bother in future, could have come home and cooked something quicker in the time it took.

And you decided to waste even more of your vauable time by writing a thread about it 🙄

I took the time to write it as it surprised me that it was no longer fast food. You used to walk in pay and walk away with your order straight away. now you can hardly get to the counter because everyone that that has ordered is how hanging around waiting.... it was a bit like the Doctors Waiting room.

You must have picked a bad one. We went through a drive thru after landing at Edinburgh airport a couple of weeks ago and had 4 lots of food ready in the time it took to go from order, pay to collect. All ready in 1-2 minutes from start to finish.

Theres' no drive though McD in Inverness yet. TBH not been in there for a good few years.

its in the high st and there's very little parking close by if you are a law abiding citizen like me. I imagine all the others in there were the ones parked on double yellow lines and in the bus lane.

Even Fort William has a drive thru McD's! My kids wont even eat McDonalds fare (they will eat Burger King's though). Why not use the Burger King drive thru at the retail park, it's on the way to /from Nairn isn't it?

Revolting mush.... do adults actually eat in there?:D

Of course they do. When was the last time you ate one, or are you basing your opinion on an experience circa 1990?

Whilst they may not be everyone's preference (my dad doesn't like the 'eating out of paper'), they are hardly revolting mush. They wouldn't have 69 million customers in over 100 countries if all they served was 'mush'

yes it is, but fancied a Big Mac.

last time i had a Bugger King, you got about 3 chips and the Tomato was bigger than the burger and made it fall apart.

its not something i do often, just fancied something quick after golf.

Being popular doesn't make it good food though

It's cheap and quick , it's full of salt and massive amount of calories and a massive reason for the obesity problem in a number of countries - a lot of people have it as their day meal

Suggest you go and check your facts on that.

And I never claimed it to be good. I just said it wasn't 'revolting mush'

Providing a couple of links to one of their most calorific menu items doesn't really prove much. At least provide a non McDonalds food item so you can compare and see if the calories wildly differ. Turns out they don't seeing as the Gourmet Kitchen cheese and bacon burger is over 800 calories, but I guess you wouldn't be eating that every day either so slapping the broad statement 'massive calories' is pointless. Assume you don't go out and enjoy a curry every once in a while seeing as that is often in excess of over 2000 calories, or perhaps enjoy a large tub of sweet popcorn that can exceed 2200 calories.

Regarding your 'full of salt' statement, again I'm not sure what you are basing it on seeing as most type of food that is served by these establishment has a slightly higher level of sodium than say a home cooked meal due to the way in which it is prepared and cooked, but they have been reducing the amount of salt they include in their products steadily over the last 10 years, with much of their food and most of their menu now meeting the recommended levels of salt as set by the Food Standards.

I wasn't comparing them to anyone else - and people do eat them every day and for many it's not just one meal at a time - it's an extra burger or nuggets

For a lot of people it appears that fast food is their daily meal regardless of what make and a lot of time the flavour is non existent but the calories are a plenty

Things like curries and large tubs of popcorn do have large amounts of calories but then not many have them as their daily meal do they

If it's their daily regular meal and the other things they eat are ok, then going by the link you posted they would be within the recommended calories and levels for carbs, sodium etc.
The problem is more this on top of 3 meals,

I know you weren't comparing them to anyone (or thing) else. That was my point. Saying a food is calorific is pointless when looking at it as a single piece of food. It might be a 1000 calories, but if every other establishment that sold a similar product was 2000 calories, then 1000 is actually pretty good isn't it (if someone decided to purchase and consume that product). I was merely pointing out, their food may well be higher in calories than some other options, but it doesn't make their entire menu 'calorific'

I'm not going to bother responding to your other sentences as it's the classic LP thread argument switcharoo when your original sweeping statements have been questioned.

Next up will be you saying something along the lines of "I didn't make any sweeping statements" or something of that ilk.
