Spent last weekend up in Wetherby and Harrogate.

on the Sunday before coming home Via Esholt, Old Emmerdale Village. We called at the monthly farmers market. Two bags of venison, steak pies, pasties Chicken and pork pies, plus sausages and lord knows what else later. Tashyboy is heading south.
monday I made a Venison casserole. Oh Lordy Lordy it was sublime. Just had a mahoosive salad and the pork pie with sweet onion chutney was outta this world.
Cheers Yorkshire and its farmers.

HID goes to a few of these regularly, especially the one at Ascot. Some fantastic food on offer. Sometimes a little expensive but absolutely no doubt you pay for the freshness and quality of the product so worth the extra pennies

Tashy did you play any golf up there? Some cracking courses. Plan yourself a weekend trip, staying in Harrogate and playing courses there and N.Leeds. You will have a great time. N. Yorkshire is a lovely part of the country, I'm off there myself this weekend.

I have a friend who occasionally drops off a chunk of venison, fresh from the hill, shot and butchered by himself.
Best meat I have ever tasted.

Visited the big food shop in North Allerton last year, can't remember their name but it was some place.
Some great food shops in Yorkshire.

I didn't because a mate of mines wife had a bit of a birthday do up there, so it was a bit of a cultural do. I just went along with the flow of doin what she wanted to do which was quite a good day actually. But as soon as I saw the Farmers market sign, I told Tashygirl " am avin some of that " whether your coming or not

the taters I bought were gorgeous £2.50 for 5 kilo. My lad was gobsmacked coz he said " There not washed". heaven forbid.

pigeon breast with the warning "may contain lead shot". Try selling that in ASDA.

re golf in Yorks, unfortunately I may struggle coz me Bessie mate has no interest in golf at all and I think Tashygirl may well poo poo the idea.

fortunately Tashygirl doesn't mind me golfing when we're on our two weeks jolly days.

We usually buy our meat from the farmer. A whole lamb or half a pig etc is hugely cheaper per kilo and vastly more tasty than supermarket meat. They will cut it to your requirement and all you need us a decent size of freezer
