My society is playing 27 holes at Farleigh Court tomorrow
9 holes on the blue course , followed by 18 on the Orange.

had a look at their website and whilst I can see the course cards, there is a distinct lack of pictures

So, whats it like, Tight/ wide open, ? super slick greens?

any info gratefully received

Understand its the sister club to Foxhills which we are playing mid August

Green were running at 10.8 Tuesday , the course is about at it best.

Open to the breeze which should help but rough is very penile. Take plenty of balls if your a slicer or hooker bud.

Phil,

Are you really that unobservant?!

Enjoy it! Just be aware that when you get to the entrance, you are still a long way from the clubhouse!!

OK ive found the picture gallery, not under "Golf " where one would expect it, but under "about us" right at the end.

Looks really nice

Penile? Hooker? What sort of club is this, that has male genitalia in the long grass AND prostitues that need plenty of balls?! :)

I haven't played it for ages, but seem to remember it being tight in places, open in others, but pretty hilly.

It's pretty undulating but he not had hard on the plates as a course like westerham, they have spent a lot of time shaping fairways and if I could give you one piece of advise it would be find the short stuff as much as possible, if you finish all 27 holes with the same ball you have a chance of winning.

The below info is based on playing from the whites and depending on the level of your society I would strongly suggest playing from the tees for a better challenge, things like carrying hazards etc from the whites is a bit more of a challenge.

Blue course,

1st is a simple dog leg but don't go too long as you will be blocked by a small tree or run into the trees, only cut right side of the bunkers if your driving 240/250 plus. But STAY BETWEEN THE BUNKERS AND TREES, -anything further right and reload. Typical score on this hole is a 5 even though it's a par 4"

2nd a drivable par 4 slightly downhill with lots of roll, anything right can be lost into the valley, aim for the bunker on the left past the 100 yards marker, (from the tee work out where the wind is , you will need it for the third)

3rd, nice little par 3 over a small lake down hill, sheltered tee means you can't feel the wind but you will once ball is at height, there's a ledge on the back right of the green which if they cut the pin on can be tricky, if not, try and keep the ball below the hole and putt up.

4th, everything runs and bounces to right towards the ditch, try and go up the left of the fairway and let if feed across for your second shot.

5th, stay up the left of the tee

6th, a medium par 5 where everything right off the tee is lost, and the fairway slopes left to right, try and play up the left side. For your second don't get greedy aim up the left with a mid iron 6/7 and then wedge in, will take all the bunkers out of play.

7th a tricky par 3 with a big right to left sloping green, watch the wind and club up , if you aim about 6gt to the right of the pin your be left with a nice up hill putt.

8th, 480 yards par 4 that always plays into the wind, unless your driving well go fairway/hybrid from the tee and play it as a par 5" everyone that doesn't hit a 300 yards drive does,

9th, dog leg par 5, play towards the lake at the bend you won't reach it, again mid iron and wedge in takes a lot of trouble out of play, off the tee watch the bank on the right at the turn, that place swallows balls for fun,

Will do other two 9's after dinner,

Yellow course

1st a reachable par 5 in two easily bit much a lottery, everything rolls right to left and if it goes to left you will end up over the ledge in the cabbage, best advise is a fairway wood down the right, 8/9i in to wedge distance them wedge in. Hitting the green in two is hard as it's protected by bunkers and no balls stick.... You will go through the back if you take on the 2nd shot

2nd, as play it as you see it, no hiden gems needed,

3rd,ar 5 dog leg with a 220 carry to get over the ditch, the line for big boys is over the left hand bunker on the right, to leave the shortest approach, unless your driving is on aim left of the bunkers, a hybrid over the mid fairway rough will leave a wedge in, the ditch you have to carry runs the full length of this hole so try not to hit up the right after you have reached the bend,

4th, the card wrecker!!
A shortish par 4 with OBB BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT, , aim up the right as the bank feeds everything back into the fairway, miss left and your on the driving range, lots of people now hitting hybrids off the tee as a bad hybrid won't reach OBB, then long iron in.

5th is a par three that plays as it looks,

6th, dog leg par 4 left with a blind lake around 50 yards left of the bunkers as you look from the tee, from the tee hit down to the right of the bunkers, it's a longer shot in but you won't need to play over the lake,

7th, a shortish par 4 with reachable ditch short as the fairway is running, a good fairway from the tee will leave a 8/9i but take most of the trouble out of play and give you the biggest landing zone.

8th. A 210 year par three over a ditch with well protected bunkers, this always plays into a slight breeze so club up by at least one even if it doesn't feel it,,,,

9th, dog leg par four, the first ditch your fly over but land a drive up on the top and the second ditch is reachable, off the tee aim for the bridge on the 2nd ditch to the right, anything that's missed by 15 yards right will come down, but left off the tee is a reload. With the second aim for the bunker on the right the green is quick and will feed is down.

i have no idea where most people play apart from those that I have played with.....
all I know is that its a roadtrip round the M25 :)

Why put where you play in your sig then?

It's certainly worth the trip for the 2 9s I played - and I suspect the 3rd 9 is pretty good too!

Hilly-ish, but not excessively so. Very good post round facilities! Only criticism (apart from that huge drive in) is that it's a tad clinical.

Red course,

10th There is a ditch at about 235/40 which is a drivable and can be cleared if the wind is with you, but a lot of balls get stuck in the hazard which you need to take a drop from. Off the tee aim middle as it all runs to the bunkers on the left, if wind is with a fairway/hybrid will get you up to the ditch and leave a mid iron in to a green with a large opening, even irons that land short will run on,

11th is fun, big boys takes the par 4 on it on and always ends in a nightmare, bunkers Protect the green and to A ditch
Route to the bunkers. From the tee a hybrid wind quite reach the middle bunkers leaving an 8i/9i, a 3 wood will roll up to the ditch leaving a wedge. The aiming line if your not going for it is the fir tree that splits the tree line to the right of the fairway bunkers,

12th par 5; go up the right as everything runs left off the tee, there seems a 50/50 split here with some going for the green in two and those laying up and playing it as a par 5, the aiming point for your second is a small tree that looks like a cauliflower , there's bunkers left and right, so if your going for it aim for the right of the cauliflower tree, it will kick left and run in, but it's still a good smack, I've found driver, 6i wedge the best way to score on this hole. It takes everything out of play but again still play for the weird tree

13th, a short par 3 with a tricky green, if the pin is back left, it's a weird uneven ledge that won't hold, play for the front of the green and put uphill.... This green always swings more than it looks and is one of the quickest

14th par 5" off the tee aim for the farm barn on the sky line which is normally just off middle left of the fairway, if you crap on on the tee shot make sure you play the second up the left of the fairway and the round come in from the right and lots of balls get lost there, other than that it's a rippers hole.

15th par 4 dog leg si1, aim up the middle of the bunkers and rip it... If it's short your bounce though the gap, but cutting the corner is risky and normally ends in lost ball, clay to the right is deep too.

16th -170 yards par 3 with the trickiest green on the course always a 3 putt risk, if the pin is high right, missing short right isn't a bad option, but try your hardest to leave the ball under the hole, downhill puts on this hole are a nightmare,

17th a long par 4 dog leg that normally plays into the wind, had a ditch to carry at about 240 and if you lake it over your second shot is normally blind as it's hard to get past the mound on the left. As you play the 2nd on the red note the pin position, if it's back play your approach short as the green slopes away at the back, if it's middle or front go at it, your aiming
Ont off the tee is a bridge on the right of the fairway, but don't go too far right of that as there is a ditch that runs across up the right and then around the corner,

18th is a slight dogleg right so run down the right side of the fairway and it will feed back in to the middle, the green is one that's hard to get to stop, fly to the pin and it will bite, land short and you'll be through the back, if your left with a long shot in play it at least a club shorter than what your GPS says,

Other info is all three nines end up back at the club house which in my opinion is one of the best around. Enjoy it and stay hydrated, stay on the short stuff and you should have an enjoyable day. Greens are awesome, fast but very true and buNkers have more sand than most euro beaches

Dam... I want to play now!

No worries, just enjoy it phill, they really have picked the best time for you to play it, now if you could take two or three doz prov1x's I've heard your pretty wild off the tee at the moment and could do with topping up stocks.

He's probably still looking for balls....

Ha shows what you know buster :)

Played the Blue course this morning 20 points
played the orange course this afternoon (yellow + Red 9's) 21 points on each 9 for 42 points and second place and a 2.8 cut to 17.2
(society handicap) :) (with a blob too :)

Course was in great nick, and whilst the rough was tricky, ive seen much worse and was able to find nearly every ball that ventured there, greens were very true

a very enjoyable day, clubhouse is great and the grub top quality

Will do a full write up later as off to Scout camp in Yorkshire tomorrow early doors and a bit knackered :)
