I'm after a bit of advice. Me and my mate are planning a wee trip up north of the border for a weekend next may and have looked at staying/playing at the cadrona in peebles.

I've read a few good reviews but was just wondering if any of you had played it and your thoughts?

We fancy spey valley but it would work out too much hassle driving all the way or flying then hiring a car.

Thanks fella's

I played there in April when it was drying out and it was still soaking. I am afraid you will need waders due to the extreme rainfall we have had in the past few weeks.

Where are you travelling from?

DO NOT GO!! 2 guys from the club I work at went past it yesterday and called in.....it is bottomless at the moment and flippers are needed.

Go up past my course Goswick(links in my sig) and head to East lothian, you really need to be doing links tracks this time of year.
Goswick £20 at moment and in great nick,Dunbar £35,Gullane 2 £29 all ideal.

Cheers madandra, Were coming from liverpool and looking for a few days golf and beer probably thursday -sunday.

Is cadrona a wet track or does it just depend on the amount of rain you have?

We are planning on going in May next year so hopefully wherever we end up it wont be wet

Should also say it's a nice enough track but typical resort stuff of huge greens, tees, bunkers etc but I would still go there before the 'other' resort course of the Borders The Roxburghe. Also make sure you don't pay anywhere near top dollar for it as it shouldnt be priced at anymore that £35 a round in my opinion.

I have played Cardrona several times at different times of the year and it was always wet. It is built in a valley on both sides of the river Tweed and is prone to flooding. There are also long walks between greens and tees. As said in previous posts you would be far better travelling a wee bit further and try some of the courses in either East Lothian or Fife.

Why not gp to Powfoot instead?

Great track, good greens cheap as chips, combine that with Southerness and head inland to Dumfries and you will have a great 4 days golf and Dumfries is not a bad night out!

Steve that is an awesome deal! Me and a few of the lads will be doing that.

Thanks steve, that looks like a good little tour.

Where would you recommend on staying, somewhere with a decent crack and pubs?

You could stay in St Andrews some good b&b's at decent prices and loads of good pubs or a bit of night life Dundee which isn't to far to drive really to all the courses.

Come to Edinburgh and you are spolied for choice. I play at Murrayfierld which is in best nick of any and has spectacular views of city. Almost in city centre.

Whits that all aboot????? Salt & vinegar, thats whit it should be!

And while I'm at it, its a CHIPPY not a CHIPPER!!!!

Welcome padster ;)

I've had a look at staying in edinburgh and playing gullane#2,Murrayfield,Royal Musselburgh and possibly another one.

Are the above worth playing?

We've had a quote for cadrona for £185 2nights dinner,B&B which is a good deal but from what i can gather its in the middle of nowhere.

Royal Musselburgh is good enough for me..........should be great in May.
