I saw Ryan Air had their 1p flights back on this morning, so my thoughts turned to golf.

Did the research and I could fly Bournemouth Prestwick return for £0.02. Figure Troon is 4 miles away, I have some mates who would come too - game on.

Then I realised it would be £60 for my clubs to fly, and £200 for the golf. Kinda took the wind out of my sails! :(

Canford, dont talk to me about RyanAir....

have just booked my annual lads golf trip away - it's our 10th anniversary so spreading our wings and going to Spain (fingers crossed on the euro collapsing around the third week of June)

Stanstead to Girona 0.1p going out and 29.99 coming back...equals £173 return. Excuse me?

Bast•••s

Mike - tell me about it. My gang have been trying for Spain and Portugal and given up coz of the airfares. Belgium for a change this year!

Ryan Air are the evil empire as far as I'm concerned!

Fly every year with them to Italy (only carrier out of Liverpool) and they are always poor

Last year my daughter split her milk before we got to the plane so when I got on I asked if they had any onboard.

The stewardess replied "Yes sir you can buy a Kellogs breakfast pack for £5"

I swear one day they will have a whip round for the pilot before he will fly.

And their Chairman is an idiot!

Agree these offers need very careful scrutiny, but I have booked several trips to Murcia (Polaris World, La Manga, etc.) with Monarch and they've always been good. You can actually book seats instead of being mown down in the rush, and although admittedly you do pay extra for golf bags, etc. you know what you're getting.
Oh, btw Spain's warmer than Belgium, but I suppose the chocolate's not so good...

Knob he may be but you have to priase O'Leary as a business man....I actually think Ryanair is great - when I lived in Ireland I could fly from Shannon to Liverpool for cheaper than getting a taxi into Limerick....

Follow the rules, understand the pricing structure and expect changes to your flights if you book miles ahead....great(ish) eh?

These budget firms are always popping up on consumer programmes and in places like Which magazine. There was a piece a while back that showed if you added in the other costs (luggage etc) the cost of these penny tickets was actually more expensive than if you had paid full whack which would have let you carry the clubs etc anyway.

They do have a place if you are flexible on your times etc and only carry hand luggage but not ideal for booking a golf trip.

Why would I praise a company that doesn't advertise it's prices correctly and has no understanding of customer service?

I'm not expecting 5* but I expect to be treated like I am the customer not doing them a favour.

Noticed how the adverts have changed for these companies they actually have to put the correct price on these days!

If you bought a car for 5 Grand and the company said the engine is another 5 grand you wouldn't be happy!

Have you every flown Ryanair then?

Its funny, when I worked in Ireland I flew back and forth every weekend on BMIbaby. Flew to Italy with Ryan air and I slept through it cos it was work so dont know how bad it was and I didnt pay so didnt care, Flew to Dublin on a hols break with the kids on a brand new plane..woo wooo! On return flight, same plane, sat on tarmac electrical fault, delayed, no toilet on the flight home. :D :p dont you love em?

Never flew with them, Dont want too either, have never heard a good word about them. If it sounds to good to be true, well you know the rest.

KLM royal dutch, Now thats an Airline baby!

8 hours to Dubai and they couldn't do enough for you, food whenever you want, not just meal times, drinks whenever you want, beer(real beer, real size) Coke(real coke real size) anything you want, no extra charges. Leg room was excellent and the staff where genuinly nice. In flight entertainment was in the head rest infront of you, and you choose it, from Tons of media.

On the golf break front, Mates brother just come back from thailand, £17 for a full days golf including female caddy. Anyone been?
