Famous People

Andrew Murray, golf pro and 5 live commentator, invited me to join his group when I was playing as a single at Turnberry. I had no clue who he was, and asked one of the other guys what his handicap was as he seemed to be pretty good... :o

He was a really nice guy, and struck the beall beautifully.

Harry Redknapp regularly plays in a charity event I support each year, but he's been closer to killing me from another fairway than playing with me.

Peter Alliss - I was a member @ Trevose when his son gary was the Pro there. He was regularly down there in the summer, I slunk on to the 1st as a single @ about 7 o'clock one evening for a quick 9 holes. Heard a posh and assertive voice behind me "Young man", I thought oh sh!t the sec is going to nobble me for something.
He said "Can an old Duffer join you for a few holes?" He never stopped talking for the 9 holes even when he was hitting shots, I was too young to appreciate his wit though.

No, but I did bump into Albert Riera and Pepe Reina at Southport and Ainsdale on monday, they were just sorting out getting Riera's car towed away! ;)

I was close to having a round with Stevie Wonder, he wanted to play at night though and I wasn't having any of it.

Ha,
Apparently it wouldn't start after they had finished their round the day before, Big porsche cayenne turbo with spanish plates, luckily Reina's big Audi Q7 was there to give him a lift. BTW, Riera must be almost 6'4", bloody massive. The member we were talking to was saying they are both members, don't think he was too impressed though, he was an everton fan! :D

Havent played but did sit next to Sergio at breakfast at this year's Desert Classic. He was too much 'in the zone' to have had much of a conversation.

Played with Ronnie Corbett once, pleasant company but a frustrating likkle fecker too, was too low to see where his ball went all the time, and spent the whole 18 asking us 'had we seen it ?'

Had to restrain myself from saying " should'nt you be wearing platforms shoes ????"

:D

Friend of mine bumped into Ronnie Corbett in the changing rooms and asked how his day had gone. "Played 9 and fell down 3" was the response. I wonder how many hundreds of times he had used that line?

Was he in the fukarwe tribe. They are short, when they get in long grass they jump up and down shout "Where the Fukarwe??"

I'll get my coat :D

Has anyone played golf with anyone famous?
Here's your chance to name drop, but please, no silly ones like Elvis etc

Cmon Bob everybody knows Elvis is too busy in his chip shop to play golf!

Passed Jason Mcateer going into AG the other week but I doubt that counts.

Used to play with one of the Spurs players occasionally, but luckily I have forgotten his name. Didn't like him much, but then that's to be expected.

I've played with a few old footballers & some golf pro's:
Roger Davies & Gerry Daly from Derby County, and Ken Burns from Nottingham Forest.
Peter Baker & DJ Russell being to golfers.
