Just got the latest copy of GM and I'm pleased to say my article "The Generation Game" (page 53) has been published. I'm now a published writer!!! Kind of surreal to see something you have worked hard on in print (with a gormless photo) and with your name against it. Hope you enjoy it and I'd love to hear any feedback good or bad

My copy fell on the doormat this morning.
Just had the obligatory flick through and noticed your article Homer. Haven't read it yet but looking forward to settling down later to give the mag a good old thorough read.

Homer I am surprised that this is your first published article. Tremendously well written and a somewhat touching subject that was both thought provoking and enjoyable.

It's made me want to write an article for submission to GM!

Thanks for the comments guys, particularly Eaglehunter. Ironically one of the things my dad really wanted to get into was writing and towards the end of his life he started doing a few articles for magazines etc but never got anything published. I think it was him teaching me the wonders of reading at an early age that put the seed of creative writing inside which has lay dormant until I came here (I did the first reader blog and now this article).

I have a few more ideas in the draft stage but this as you can imagine was quite personal and something I have been trying to get down on paper (or PC screen) and get just right. There is also a golf related novel festering away!!

I'm glad it has been enjoyed by a few on here. It made the effort worthwhile. If it has inspired anyone else, all I can suggest is get it down, refine it until you are 100% happy and then send it off to GM for their approval.

I enjoyed the article. Wish I had a dad to introduce me to golf. I was too old by the time I started.

Lovely article - sorry I only just got round to it as we've been away for a few days. Thouroughly enjoyed it - very touching but also very well crafted (which is a lot harder than it looks!)
Good luck with your writing - you clearly have what it takes!

Well done Homer.

A nice piece, straight from the heart and one your father would be very proud of i'm sure.

Mrs.BillyG (god bless 'er) got my one framed for me and it's on the wall at the parents place.

Mother's reaction - (passes her copy of magazine),'Oh that's nice dear'(puts magazine down without reading and switches back to watching Cr@p in the Attic).......ho hum :(
MikeH very kindly gave me a nice Cleveland VP-1 putter for writing which I donated to Mrs.BillyG who was chuffed to bits.

You've done something really good thats yours for life. Well done.
