He may have been a great player, but he's lousy in the commentary box. He's even worse when he's trying to be funny - he's got as much humour as Arsne Wenger.
If I wanted to hear all about how great you were/are I'd book to see you as an after dinner speaker Yawn

Nick Faldo. He was my boyhood hero along with Seve and yes he may not be the most poular person in some parts and his commentary and views can be seen by some as controversial, but his knowledge on the technical and strategic parts of the game is excellent.

A great player before Leadbetter got him, and a world beater afterwards. His first Open win at muirfield was outstanding. That last round, in atrocious conditions is one of the best ever.

Never one of my favourites but he most certainly isn't the anti-Christ portrayed by some.

FTFY

Faldo is so full of his own importance.

Its a thin line to who was the worst ever European Ryder Cup Captain him or Mark James, my money is on Faldo.

It's interesting to see him try and reinvent himself as Mr Nice Guy on American telly.

However as a player it was well documented that he was pretty insular, aloof and self-centred. Now of course he was a great of the game and perhaps his attitude was justified by his record, but I can never quite warm to him.

And as for his Ryder Cup Captaincy, it was total pants.

Yep, spot on summing up !

Player yes he was a ledge. As a commentator I'm not bothered, but you can't beat good olde Peter Aliss in my book.

I have had some personal dealings with Faldo. I can't describe what I think if him in any way permissible by Forum rules.

*INTRIGUED*

Ah but, shur in the words of Mrs Doyle. Would ye not feel better if ye got it all offa yer chest?

Ah now shur ye definitely would. Go on, go on go on...GO ON!!!!!!!

He has certainly divided opinion over the years, but as a golfer I liked him. Never met the guy before so can't have any opinion other than that.
He's certainly been the countries best golfer (in terms of majors) and I think he came along at the right time, creating massive interest in a sport that saw a large number of golf courses spring up on the back of his success.
Like him or loathe him, you can't ignore the effect he has had in the modern game.

A great time in European golf. Major winners in Faldo, Lyle, Woosnam, Langer and Ballesteros.

I enjoy how cheesy he is. Hin and feherty are a good double act. Won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Neither are my cup of tea, i find watching golf with these two on the team excruciating as you know they are going to try and be funny and 99% of the time they would be better being silent, fact it if you want comedy you watch it.

I used to be a fan of Feherty, when he DID NOT TRY to be funny all the time, he seems to think he is a comedian which he certainly is not, Faldo is worse, he should be told give us the analysis *Which he is great at, but do no try and make people laugh its not your job!

In general i prefer American commentators to British, i think Peter Alliss should have been retired in the 90s

Whenever i see new commentators, i generally really like it, because you get a fresher show, they should turn over their staff a lot faster for the publics benefit, sure keep Faldo but tell him, you are not here to be funny!

An absolute Legend, and one of my sporting heroes. I actually quite like him in the commentary box as well, but I appreciate this isn't a common view. He'd still be in pretty much everyone's "greatest ever" Euro Ryder Cup team.

Not a fan of Faldo, like Feherty. Liked his comment about Faldo , can't remember where, "Nick Faldo can't be with us tonight, he's attending the birth of his next wife"
