Just watching a recording of todays golf , Just watched Faldo & caddy getting a lift back to tee to reload ..

Is he subject to 2 shot pen ala Molanari when his caddy hitched a lift ?

In Fact it was John Paramore that drove them back

The R&A Hard Card says:

9. Transportation

The specimen condition in the Rules of Golf is in force.

Which itself says:
"Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee."

Perhaps the "committee" felt really sorry for him with the way his round was going.

He had lost his ball and had to return to the tee. It's not uncommon for a player to be given a ride back in order to save time and obviously this comes under the "unless authorised by the Committee" exception.

But no, I've no idea why he hadn't played a provisional ball.

Probably because pro golfers very rarely lose balls in the rough (unlike club golfers), because they have an army of marshals, ball spotters and spectators to help find them!

He was in some deep clag for the 2nd hole on the trot a prov would of been wise.

So...in the scenario of our club champs where a player had a medical certificate for use of a buggy BUT gave another player a lift back to the tee for a reload...2 shot penalty?!

Does the club champs have a Condition of Condition relating to transportation?
If so and the committee had not authorised the ride, then yes.
If not, then no.

Maybe Faldo did have a medical certificate, because he had apparently cut his finger on a deer antler!

I'm sure that one of the top referees in the world wouldn't give him a lift back to the tee if it weren't within the rules

Id be fair sure John Paramore would have the right to authorise this so .

Thanks Rulefan

Yes. Not allowed without a medical certificate...the winner won by 2 shots - oops!
