Hi folks,

I'm always on the lookout for shiney new golf gear these days, and have a burning desire for a set of G10's.

On ebay and a few other places I've spotted full sets of irons, and in some cases full sets of clubs for some seriously low prices. Full set of G10 clubs for 250 quid and the like still in the wrappers.

Now, I've always taken the stance that if something is too good to be true it probably is, so have avoided them, but is there any possibility that some of these are genuine? A full set of steel shafted irons for 250 odd quid and the like?

I've spent a fair while googling and it seems ping clubs aren't often copied, I've seen a few drivers which are knock offs but has anyone heard of any fake G10's other than the driver? Probably not worth the risk in most cases, and of course there's the serial number to check, but at this stage I'm just curious :)

I have definitely herd of fake G10 irons. I bought mine through a registered ping pro (they are great clubs by the way) and he said that he had had quite a few people ask him to check the authenticity only to find they were duds. Be very careful, although you seem switched on enough about the whole fakes issue. I would highly reccomend a proper set of fitted G10s though.

Cheers, I think ultimately I'd be too nervous to take a chance and forever kicking myself if I bought a set and found they were copies, but I'd not previously heard of ping being copied aside of the drivers which were easily identifiable hence my asking.

Still, I'll pop it all in the pot and keep saving for some raptures

:D

I am always weary of full sets, new sets with the gap wedge and sets aith all graphite shafts.

Stick to a main dealer - however, a main dealer sold me dud (custom - but not for me) clubs so keep your eyes open m8.

Are you joking! Good fakes look at the finish on the irons and compare that to the real things next time you have a look at them.

The woods aren't bad thoguh I'll give you that.

The driver looks a funny colour to me. I'm going to check mine to see if its just the light. If its different I'll post a pic of my one to show what I mean.

Its def not right. Please excuse my photoshop skills. The bit in the red circles is obviously different. To me the bit in the blue seems way more metallic on their driver.

the Custom Tuning Port badge on the irons look nothing like the real thing. Also the G10 badge on the wood doesn't look right.

I think the above photo proves that if you look close enough there is a difference and as been said before, if they sound too good to be true they probably will be

a) E-bay set brand new in sleeves -£250

b) http://www.americangolf.co.uk/navproduct...10-Irons-(Steel,-4-SW)

(....and this from one of the cheapest suppliers)

Spot the difference?

£250

Says all it needs to.

I know someone from my club who has a court case coming up this month after he was found with a warehouse full of knockoff Ping g10 gear. Its everywhere so watch out.
Saying that, the knock off g10 driver he was using was outstanding in terms of length and forgiveness! But still watch out haha

You joking right? They are the highest copied club except the X20 at this time, buy from a retailer as then you are 100% sure.
