Anyone had any experience of buying a fake Galvin Green online?
Ordered the Aston paclite from an online store earlier in the week...the one I wanted has a red zip but over the phone they said that colour was out of stock but they had a new colourway that was only just released and wasn't even on GGs website yet.
Came today and I'm dubious about the authenticity...on the Aston I was looking at it has the "R" in a circle registered trademark symbol after "Galvin Green" and after "GoreTex"...the one I received only has the "R" symbol after "GoreTex.
It was also cheaper than anywhere else online...if it is new stock like they say then why so cheap?
The font looks slightly off on "Gavin Green".
The velcro fastening on the cuffs doesn't look the quality I would expect from GG.
Any other experiences?

Well the company are genuine so I would take it up with them

Maybe post a picture on here ?

I seem to remember the name Andrew Cameron though from somewhere before? Has he been involved in any other companies we've discussed in the past, the name is just jumping out at me?

Not according to the Company Check website but no idea how complete their info is.......

https://companycheck.co.uk/company/...N--KEITH-PREECE-GOLF-SERVICES-LIMITED/summary

https://companycheck.co.uk/director/912953320/MR-ANDREW-HUGH-CAMERON/summary

Scary how much info they have on there. I searched my own company and didn't realise that so much info was public record.

Why don't you put it on then go for a shower- this should test it's authenticity, or at least give you an idea tonight to save you worrying about it?

That there is a big clue.

Sounds snide to me. With the top end brands like GG personally I would just order off them. If I'm parting with a good amount of money I'd rather order from them (or a reputable stockist) Than save myself 30-50 notes off the bay, and risk a snide garment. But I'm sure we have all been caught by this at some stage, with a various amount of brands. Electricals/clothing. With certain things I'd do it, but with the golfing gear most of the time it is far too good to be true.

Sounds like all the tell-tale signs of a fake....

Find it strange that a company with 2 physical stores would knowingly sell fake gear. Unless those stores are just made up. As surely if they are found out, and it is not that difficult to do so nowadays, then their business reputation would be in tatters and people can easily find them. They also have a decent range of lots of stuff where as the sites selling fakes tend to just concentrate on say just clubs.

Having said that it seems you can order Ping irons directly from them where as I thought Ping made any online retailers insist their customers ring up for a static fit?

You lot really do post the most ill-informed tripe.

The OP makes a typo error referring to "Gavin Green" and that, apparently, is evidence that the site is selling fake goods.

And as for being able to order Ping irons directly I suggest that HK tears himself away from The Grauniad long enough to view the website where it clearly states that all Ping clubs can only be ordered by phone, the same procedure as other reputable sites.

obvious it was a typo, the humour obviously bypassed you.......

........and the question of Ping clubs being ordered direct? Was that another joke?

no joke there - banged to rights.

FWIW this question was raised a couple of years ago (if a search is done) and there was no negative feedback. The simple answer if for the OP is ask the retailer.

Just wondered why you were so vociferous in your response?

I have absolutely no connection with or interest in the Company concerned if that is what you are wondering.

I have, however, seen the damage that can be caused to perfectly decent and reputable companies by misinformed comments, rumours and innuendo.

All I ask is that people take a little more care in considering the potential consequences of their remarks.
