I read a lot about hybrids, but what, if any, is the advantage over fairway woods? Currently, apart from my driver, I carry 3, 5 & 7 woods then 4 iron through to wedges. Would I see any advantage if I swapped any fairway wood for hybrid? (I hit my 3 wood 220 yards, 5 wood 200 yards & 7 wood 180+ off the fairway.)

Clive. I could have written this post. I play with a 3 hybrid instead of a 3 iron instead of a 7 wood. In an ideal world, I'd hit a proper 3 iron off the tee or good lie and a 7 wood out of fluffy lies and needing some height....I guess the hybrid/rescue club sort of serves as a compromise between the two.

I have a 9 wood somewhere in the shed. The trouble with high numbered woods is the terrible accuracy compared to the equivalent iron (for me, that is). I love 7 and 9 woods, but wouldn't buy one these days.

In my opinion , it is up to you .
you can try to play golf with different clubs and find the best method.

if you can't find the good clubs , you can go to [dodgy golf site] to have a see.
maybe you can find what you want .
just my suggestion.
hoping it will be useful for you .

Cheerio

I personally find hybrids easier to hit as i play them more like an iron with a steeper swing and take a divot.Woods need a wider more sweeping swing with a brushing of the grass.
I carry a three iron and a three wood and fill in with a 17 degree hybrid.
They are a great replacement for long irons, and a lot of pros use them instead of 2 irons.
