Fairway woods ... not really that much distance gain with the new ones!

So just been looking into a new fairway wood, thinking perhaps M2/M1 or XR etc.... watched a few reviews looked at a few figures... little or no distance gains over my present selection.
So at present I am using an xhot pro 4 wood, I have a strong Cleveland classic ( might feel a little closed ,now) and a 15 degree Mizuno titanium 15 degree thing ..which was just long.

Just feel like I will not really gain anything from the new stuff it doesn't sound or look like it is significantly better ... unless someone can tell me otherwise.

You are right, there will be no distance gain from an X hot pro they were great woods anyway. Only reason to change will be if you just fancy looking at something new and shiny and there is nothing wrong with that!

Only one way to find out

Try them and see, on a range is better as you can see the ball flight rather than have trackman guess it

take your existing ones and have a faceoff

Unlike drivers the variables are so extensive that it's entirely subjective as to what constitutes a gain.
Put another way, anyone can get more distance from a longer shaft or lower loft; irrelevant I the wider context.
What you can do with it is everything

No, no, no. The lower loft will only help if your club head speed is fast enough, and the longer shaft is only useful if you hit the sweet spot. The likelihood is that a longer shaft and lower loft will cost most people distance.

I can definitely concur with this. I have ditched my 10.5* Driver in favour of a shorter shafted 12* Mini Driver, and guess what, I hit it longer and straighter.
In response to the OP. Technology has pretty much topped out now. At the amateur level, strike often negates any gains in technological distance.

Everyone is individual and so the only way you'll know if M1/2 or any of the new offerings are better than what you have is to hit them and ideally see them on a monitor

The only thing that is making me think maybe is the cobra f7 but I usually find the heads a little bit spinny ...

I had an original xhot pro and it was a great club. I now have the XR (older one, not xr16 and not the pro version) and I think it's better.
Can't vouch for distance because I went from 4 wood to 3 wood but it's plenty long enough.

I picked up an XR16 today, 3 woods are clubs i struggle with for some reason but after hitting a few at the range today I'm well happy.

for me personally, upgrading my clubs isn't about distance (as long as I wouldn't lose loads).....its about dispersion. I'd much rather upgrade a club to something that goes straighter than something that goes longer.

I've just put an old Ping Anser 3 wood back in the bag and I'm an absolute beast with it ;)

I have finally found a three wood that i'm confident with and not scared of and it's one of the recent newer models. Really pleased and excited going forward with regards to the difference it could make to my scoring now i've got something in my locker that can get me 200+ off of the deck.

I've got the same original XR 3 wood and I really like it. Tried the M2 a few times as I fancy one to match my driver but get nothing more out of it, not to say I won't end up with one right enough

Will definitely keep this one anyway, best 3 wood for a combination of off the tee and deck I've tried (and I've tried a lot......)

just replaced my Cleveland 3 wood with the XR 16 5-wood. The XR goes further and is easy to hit off the deck. Improvement all round which I'm told is down to loft and the shorter shaft meaning that I connect with the sweat spot more regularly.

We really don't need to know this but thanks for sharing anyway :D
