Looking to get a fairway wood to fit between my 10.5 degree driver and 19 degree hybrid. I only have space for 1 fairway wood, if Ping still did a 4 wood I would of probably gone with that but they only have adjustable 3 or 5 available, so I have the option of 3 wood raised to 15.5 degree or 5 wood lowered to 16.5 degree which I think would probably be closest to give correct gap. Hope this is not a stupid question as I haven't used adjustable clubs (driver is adjustable but happy with it at standard setting so just left it there), does raising or lowering the standard loft give you any tendency to hit the ball left or right?

To me it would depend on where you reckon you would hit most of your shots with it. A 5w cranked down will be easier to hit from rough etc, but if you want a longer safe club from the tee the cranked 3w may be better.

2@what about trying both on a monitor to see which suits your gapping better

More loft will (likely) increase spin rate (loft spin) so any side spin should shape less.
I use Nike flex loft 3w and 5w. I find it fun and really useful changing things around according to my needs.
Perhaps a 2016 TM M1 3w would suite you? You can adjust draw/fade bias and +/- 2* loft?

Depending on if you are set on a specific brand, it may be worth looking at a 3HL. I just got a TM M1 3 wood HL which is 17 degree and adjustable, which makes it very versatile. To me a 17 degree is more of a 4 wood than a 3 wood. It seems the HL has been a popular choice since they launched it.

Bit of a Ping fan at the moment, have Ping irons and bought a G30 driver which I'm very happy with compared to the Taylor Made it replaced, so first choice likely to go to the G fairway. Would be looking to buy from AM with a trade in but I'm not a big fan of indoor monitors, never seem to swing well or feel comfortable. Looking for it to be a bit of an all rounder, off the tee, fairway and light rough.

The 3 wood will be a good optional club to use from the tee but will be difficult to hit well from the ground. A 5 wood will be easier to use from the ground and will be less susceptible to left or right ball movement due to the higher loft.

This!

Don't guess!

I've actually cranked a 15* Adams down to 13.5 and another up to 16.5. Noticeably different flights. I can use both equally well (or badly) off the deck, but 16.5 does get used more. 13.5 used mainly from tee.

Seems to me the 4-Wood style (natural or manufactured from either style) would be the best way to go!
