who uses a face balanced putter??

im looking for a couple of good models to try out over the weekend?? suggestions

Oyssey No.7H White Hot Tour.
The Golden Fang.

Loads to choose from face-balanced-wise.
Most of the high MOI (funny-shaped) putters will be facebalanced

TM Ghost Spider the only one I am close as good as mediocre with, great face balanced mallet with adjustable weights.

I use a TM Rossa Monte Carlo which is very good. There was a Yes and Rife one that I also liked though can't now remember what they were. I ried 12 different putters on proper practise putting greens before buying.

I use the Odyssey Marxman Mini, which is a nice kind of halfway putter; not quite a mallet and not quite a blade. It's the best putter I've played with. The trick will be to try as many as possible. My father-in-law swears by his Ping Craz-ee, but I hated it with a passion.

Putters are a very personal thing... more so than other clubs, I feel.

As big slice says - Yes. The Angela model is particularly nice - nearly bought one myself but just stuck a bigger grip on mine. Make sure you really are sbst before buying one though.

nike options are the method 004 i have this i like it, but torn between the new nike method drone and the method concept

hit both the drone and concept today, drone is the lighter of the 2 sticks concept has a more what looks like more loft both great and like i said im torn in which to go for

Apparently if you have a big arc you should game a toe balance putter(anser type), and if you have a straight stroke then a face balanced(ghost type).

I have a big arc and gamed anser type putters for years with below average success. Just changed to a face balanced Odyssey and it feels so much better, stable and solid, yet to be on a course due to the bad weather but I'm loving it on the carpet.

I also used toe balanced for years because I thought I had an arc type stroke. Putting much better since I changed to a face balanced mallet.

I think the Yes Tracy is a face balanced blade.

Excuse my ignorance :o... How is a putter 'face balanced' and what are the perceived advantages?

Used a trusty Ram Zebra for years and when I upgraded got the same again but with an insert...

As I understand it, a face balanced doesn't want to twist during the stroke so suited for straight back and through. A toe balanced has the tendency to close through the stroke so helps someone who takes it back inside square it up at contact.

That's only going on what I've read rather than any special knowledge.

Thanks for reply... When putting I try and keep the stroke as simple as possible... ie Take it back and swing it through the ball straight... So 'face balanced' may work for me... I purchased my first Zebra putter because I liked the way it sat behind the ball... Not a particularly scientific approach but I stuck with the Zebra through good and bad days on the greens...

If you rest the shaft on your palm, a face balanced putter will face upwards, a non face balanced will hang toe down.

I used a face balanced scotty red x. Love it.

Scotty Newport 2.7. Wasn't sure if I needed to make it heavier but adjusted my stroke slightly and now going very well. If you ask me face balanced is the way to go. That way your are trying to hold the face square to target for longer rather than getting it square at point of impact. Happy shopping!

ok, after trying out a few putters yesterday, going to try more today, i quite like the taylormade, 770 tour ghost, the odyssy 2ball and the taylor made fo 72.
all quite nice to hit, very solid sweetspots,
mega steve when a putter is facebalanced if you hold your index finger out and balanced the shaft over it, the putter face will stay horizontal to the ground, any othe r putter will drop the toe, as region says, it helps the putter to stay consistent throught the stroke although it not so much the twist, most people play with a slight arc, its very physically hard to play straight through and back absolutely( which is where the broom handle putter helps), there are parametres of the arc though to determine whether or not you need a face balanced putter,

Just to add to the mix I've just been and tried the Ping Anser putters, I had no idea they did 7 different types of Anser that all look the same but are designed for different putter strokes. They have a face balanced #5 that is very nice to strike, solid and balanced, the #4 is for strong arcs and also nice to strike but the #5 was very very nice.

The price of the Anser 2 is £79 in AG, very reasonable so I thought I'll just get the #4 ........it's £214:eek: that's some jump for 2 putters that look identical. I'll have to hold back at that cost.
