FA Semi Final Tickets

Even Arsenal have struggled to sell their allocation, and Wembley is practically next door to their stadium!

No BS!

Much more apathy than in previous years for the cup semi final. Doesn't help that Wembley is a naff venue.

City have some left apparently...£30 each. I'm not going just thought I'd let people know.

Is the correct answer, got mine on Friday and was Suprised when the ticket office said they have a few left. Spoke to a pal about it and he said it is always the same, bar when they played Utd in the semi. Folk just don't wanna go down there and pay over the odds for everything.
good old Missis T, she has booked us a weekend away for when the final is, so even if we get there Mr and Missis T will not be there. Grrrrrrr.

Wembley for a final is a big event. Plenty of cost for a northern fan to make the trip but worth it for a final. For a semi you would do it the first time as it is a novelty. If it starts being more regular, as it now is for City, then I can understand why fans will not fork out the money. The pit is not bottomless.

Arsenal have opened ticket sales to red members. Its just a question of when after this they go on the open market. The fans are fed up, and have no interest in watching yet another gubbing.

Shouldn't be at Wembley, anyway.

In principle I agree with you Pete, it should be saved for the final, but with 3 of the 4 semi finalists being London clubs, I think there's a case for Wembley for the convenience of the majority of the fans this time. Not that this ever entered the FA's thinking.

I was hoping for a rant off someone as a riposte.:D

1. For me it takes away from the final being at Wembley.

2. Its another long trek down south and an expensive day out.

3. The atmosphere and day out isnt as good, as in the old days when 25,000 each would be at Villa park/Highbury/Old Trafford and dare I say it Hillsborough.

4. And it still sticks in my craw that all England games and semis are at Wembley, so lots of northern fans paying for a national (London) stadium - done this argument before though.

OT and Cardiff both hold over 72k, so would be happy to go there.

Against

1. More fans (or part timers) can get tickets, but for me I would rather 25k hard core getting tickets than every Paddy K (sorry bandwagon jumper);) getting tickets.

2. Fair play if two London clubs are there - makes sense.

you really are pathetic

As mentioned previously, semi final grounds used to be neutral. Usually mid point between the two teams in a geographical sense. Two teams from London. Yeah use Wembley. But City have a trek to get to an overpriced stadium in what has been a busy time on City fans pockets.
Re Arsenal getting a grubbing, you do know you are playing us and owt could happen.

I've always been a disappointment to you, haven't I? :D

Totally get keeping Wembley special for the final and the relative lack of atmosphere with the prawn sandwich club in the middle tier. The long trek is relative; last "neutral" venue semi I did was at Old Trafford in 2007 v. Blackburn, so a 3+ hour long trek up north and an expensive day out for us, 3 tram stops for Blackburn. Sounds more neutral to me than Villa Park….

I see your point about all the England games at Wembley, but as it's the capital, the national stadium & as a born and bred Londoner I don't see it as an issue in the same way, although as a club before country man, that might have some bearing on my mindset.

Knowing the FA's thinking, if they'd had the opportunity to actually pick a venue rather than it being a done deal at Wembley they'd probably have sent us & Spurs to Old Trafford.

They sent us and Foolham up the M1/M6 to Villa Park in 2002, that seemed daft to me at the time, and still does, should have been Wemberly.

Never understood us going to OT in 2006 against L'pool, hardly a trek for them, that should have been Villa Park, same against Blackburn in 2007!

Since 2008 it's been worse, more so for 2 Midlands or Northern clubs having to travel the same routes south, I appreciate if it's a much smaller club it will be their final as such if the odds are massively against them getting through, but it's not the same as making the final to play at the the National stadium, that should be a prize in its own right, not diluted with semi-finals, it's obviously a cash cow for the FA, IMO.
