Forest give West Ham a proper spanking  great to see Fat Sam struggling

Also Ramries has been booked for a shocking dive - good to see refs booking the players at last

The FA Cup has no standing now and is just another side show that 99% of clubs don't give a toss about it and it's all thanks to the self proclaimed 'Best League in the World'.

Winning a trophy simply isn't as important as finishing 4th from the top or the bottom of the Premiership.

Sympathy for the fans.

Sorry but disagree - the FA Cup may not mean much to a small % of clubs but the vast majority still hold it in high esteem

Nothing beats a good lucrative cup run for 99% of the clubs

I think it may be coming back a bit tho Allan ,
top 4 have big enough squads to compete and the rest only have two chances of winning something (both cups) .. mind you i think the so called big ones are glad to win a cup again now aswell as there is so much pressure to win again ..

Still needs the away game on the muddy pitch for the real early cup round excitement tho

What utter cock!
So Nottingham Forest don't give a toss ............ or are they part of that 1% that actually cares!

Slime.

Only 14000 at forest today, but was on tv so not sure if their fans care or not. The ones in the city ground did, great game, and the west ham fans were joining in with the "you're getting sacked in the morning" chants.

The fans always care, but in the current financial climate and with the game on TV the game becomes more of a luxury, particularly if more than one in the household goes.

Disgraceful dive by Ramires & rightly booked.

Does anyone else agree with the draw for the next round being made before a fair number of the games in this round haven't been played?

Draw should be made once every game in the round is played ( not the replays )

Sorry Dodger, I usually agree with most of your posts, but that is utter tripe of the highest order. As a fan of the current FA Cup holders, there isn't a single Wigan fan that I've met that would swap the FA Cup win for another year in the Premiership. Not one.. Whilst there may be a few teams that don't care as much as they should, the vast majority still care deeply about it..

I think unfortunately now, most games on TV that don't involve the top clubs have repercussion son attendances.
As to the cups importance, I think but of the allure has been lost. Sure clubs trump it up once they get a few rounds in. But I think the real reason small clubs like it is because of the prize money. Ask crawly if they'd like a run to the quarters against small opposition or a third round tie at old Trafford. As to the big teams, I'd say the settled top four give it a charge. But when you hear managers at clubs say they'd rather finish 6th than 5th to avoid Europa league, I'm not really sure it's as important to them as we'd like to believe.

That at said, Saints have Yeovil next round so fingers crossed. Think the 25/1 I took yesterday will be a bit shirted now.

Couldn't agree more. The Premiership might be more highly prized by the players, but the FA Cup is still the greatest day out for the fans in domestic football.

Not many of them though. I was at Bolton v Blackpool yesterday. Local derby, would have been a sellout 30 years ago. Just over 11,000 there yesterday (27,500 capacity) and that's with tickets at £15. 3rd round FA cup day used to be one of the highlights of the season ... the "cup magic" has certainly gone since the premier league started. That's not to say that it isn't great to have a cup run once you get through a round or two.....bring on Cardiff to see if they can handle such an intimidating "atmosphere" lol.

During the third round against Newcastle I think it was, they're were more away fans than home. It's all well and good loving that you've won the cup and I agree now you've got it your fans may not swap it. But I bet if you asked and if the fans of clubs in trouble right now if they'd happily go out at third round and survive. The results would be rather one sided.

As a saints fan who watched us lose to arsenal years back, I'd have preferred we'd stayed in the following year than be in Europe.

Very sad, it used to be such a special competition.
It is all wrong that money should taint sporting history.

Is it not the golfing equivalent of the Dunhill Links being a bigger event than The open.

Bet you couldn't wait to start a thread including this:mad:

And if it was Suarez a thread dedicated to him would have been started.

Are you mad that he dived , mad that he was yellow carded or mad that I mentioned it ?

And the Mancs go tumbling out
