Eye Eye!

Well a lady from work whos just had the op is off for 2 weeks for recovery as she's putting in drops 4 times a day atm.

Couple weeks and you'll be back - if not before!

My wife had it done and they said no major physical exertion for 10 days to two weeks, but they couldn't say whether golf was major physical exertion or not! I would err on the side of caution and take the advice of the professionals after the procedure.

She's swinging the lead on that one. 2 weeks off to put drops in?

Mrs B has just had both eyes done - one after the other. Was told to avoid strenuous exercise for 2 weeks for each. Was also told that her gym regime - cycle, treadmill, cross trainer - was probably still ok provided it wasn't too vigorous. And yes she had to put drops in 4 times a day.

As to golf, probably OK, but mebbe give it two weeks just to be cautious.

Different surgeons will give you different answers.

I had mine done privately (both done at the same time), and actually drove a car the next day - my sight was already way better than it had been before. I did take things easy for the first week. When I saw the surgeon for a checkup after one week, I asked when I could play golf, and she said "whenever you feel like it".

I am fully aware that most other surgeons take a more cautious view. My wife was told to avoid golf for "at least a couple of weeks" after her cataract ops.

Friend was told two weeks off strenuous exercise but when he asked about playing golf he was told to “give it a few days.”

I’m also due cataract surgery and the online advice varies considerably. Some clinics say a few days, some several weeks. I’ll wait and speak with my surgeon.

Slightly surprised to read that. Without exception the advice I have seen, including my pre-op information pamphlet, is that the wearing of sunglasses post surgery is imperative - for as long as a year.
The info they gave me suggested wearing them or old glasses for two weeks.

For Two Weeks:
  • use your shield, old glasses or sunglasses outdoors

Had the op two weeks ago today and it went very well. I'm amazed the difference it's made to the sight in my left eye, not only are things so clear but colours are so brighter and intense. I thought the right eye wasn't too bad but it now feels so blurr and dim, I shall be trying to get a referral to have it done asap.

The op itself was really quick and pain free.

I’m much the same. Had mine done around the same time and my vision has improved immeasurably. Still a little blurry at times in poor light, but other than that I’ve gone from -5.00 in my right eye to probably not needing any prescription.
