Have tried looking but can't find it on here. Someone posted an image which was a chart of how long your drives should be, how many FIR and GIR etc etc etc for every handicap.

Can anyone find it or post it here? Thought it was a brilliant document.

Thanks in advance.

I sometimes wonder about stats !!!

I drive the ball great , I hit my irons ok (ish) long irons an issue, pitch ,chip ok , putt erratically

= 12.8

Now am I a normal 13 handicapper or not !!

I tried to keep stats last year for a while. it lasted two rounds. my mistake was I tried to keep the stats as I was playing. I found this just gets boring and you soon give up.

I may try and scribble some down after the round.

Scoresaver2 has stats per handicap but I don't know where they get the info from. Also, I've never understood how driving distance can be per handicap, I went from 10-7 this year and according to that I should be driving it it 20 yards further as a result

The problem with using these stats as a guide is that you need to have every part of your game working to meet them during the same round.
I've said it before, I've shot 74 2 days running.
Day 1 I hit plenty of fairways and virtually no greens, the next I hit virtually no fairways but plenty of greens
If, on day 1 my short game wasn't working I'd have shot 85 and if the putter hadn't been hot on day 2 -same result.

Just because you improve 1 stat it doesn't automatically mean you'll improve another, it may even get worse...

I guess what I'm saying is use these numbers as an aim but don't get too tied up in making them as the only number that really matters is the one at the end.
I use stats to highlight where my game is lacking, at the moment it's in converting birdie chances.
Most other stats are above my handicap aim but only by a small amount so they're there or thereabouts...

Good point and I completely agree.

I wanted to look at my TARGET handicap and see what I am already doing and what I'm not.

It's also an excellent document to keep one's expectations REALISTIC.

Justone is good at keeping handicapper's feet on the ground and I remember this document being a handy guide to self regulate my instinctive expectation to hit my approaches within 10 feet of the hole!!!

Just dont get too hung up on stats or yardages mate ..

if your drives are playable it doesnt matter if they are on fairway or first cut, it doesnt matter if you hit wedge or 7 iron if you can get it on or near the green etc ,

I had a good discussion with a guy in our society who reckoned his putting was killing him score wise , he reckoned he could be lower & win a few prizes if he could cut out the 3 putts .. after a chat we got to the nitty gritty ,

when you 3 putt what distance is your first usually putt from ? if its 15-20 feet there a chance you can 3 putt if its over 20 feet you probably will .. i tried to explain it was his approach play that was causing his 3 putting not his actual putting..

just stats and yardages etc dont totally add up or tell a true story at our level ..
